Guess it is one of those separated by a comman language" things.
Called Egg Crate here (FL), too. Foam, yes, but really indented like
an Egg Crate. I bought the twin size and cut it down and glued a
couple of layers together to make seat cushions for Franzi after his
proctocolectomy. (Anus and everything else removed!) The cushion from
the hospital was just too hard! And too big for chairs. I think for
sleeping it would do to have two, one on top of another for real
comfort. I bought mine at WALMART ran about $8.00 for twin.
Hope you are doing OK. This adjusting to loss of beloved is a hard
road! Blessings.

Foam mattress pads can be found at Target. I have an old queensized bed that
really could use a new mattress but not at this time. I bought a 2" foam pad
and covered it. It is super and will do till my ship arrives.

The best and most effective is a mattress overlay that is what is used
in a hospital and homecare.

Most of the time the equipment is rented and it part of the health
policy .
Unfortunately, I have noticed since Pen was denied to promote her
wonderful site her posts have been less and less. I admire her since
she saw an opportunity and rather than complain she did something about
it. Her site has many different options for donations including MP3s.
I think she is spending her time on her site and blog
Alex.

Penny has company at her home from the US. She and Mike have been busy
showing them around.

Get a clue; she's getting worse. She was posting her blog here.

There are different kinds of foam & different products among those. The
memory foam is very different from the egg crate & much denser/heavier.
If you put your handprint into memory foam, it stays for a little while.
You can buy an entire mattress set of it or a topper. I have a 3"
topper. Over $100 at Costco for King. Worth it for me & helped Socks
with bone mets. You don't toss/turn so much on these as pressure points
are relieved and every bit of you is in contact with mattress, evenly
distributing weight & supporting. There are also pillows & even newer is
a topper with memory foam on 1 side & some other filling on the other.
Pillows like that too. I understand the pillows better than I understand
the mattress toppers as NO WAY would I be flipping that heavy thing over.
I had to get friends help me get it on the bed initially.
The foam people have been very busy inventing. I have a foam square for
needle felting that is a different type than I have seen previously &
perfect for what it does. We just finished a huge project making covers
for boat cushions. The outside of the boat needed new cushions & the
foam for the new didn't exist before & is much nicer than what we
replaced.
So, to paraphrase: It's not your father's foam cushion!
