Bob may have this guy filtered (plonked).
he comes in once in while to amuse us by dropping a turd.

His email address is shown below if you want to set your filters.
Some of you may have to leave the "name field" blank for the plonk to work.

Looks like it might be this --

Lizard Spit sounded like snake oil, too, but there really is a diabetes
medication that came out of that!

Thanks. I wondered how they delver it.  intracavitary
Another webpage says they're using it for growth into the brain stem. "an area that
the surgeons can’t get to without killing the patient."

Ingestion here
http://www.tbts.org/itemDetail.asp?categoryID=444&itemID=18309
Scientists at the Transmolecular Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts created a
radioactive version of this scorpion venom. Called TM-601, it contains an
artificial version of the venom protein, attached to a radioactive substance called
iodine-131 (I-131). When ingested, the compound attaches to the glioma cells, then
the I-131 releases radiation that kills the cell.

This compound has enabled an experimental treatment for high-grade gliomas, found
in 17,000 people in the US every year and usually causing death in the first year
of diagnosis. Patients would simply drink liquids containing the compound in an
outpatient procedure, without needing chemotherapy or traditional radiotherapy. The
first, early human trials of the venom therapy showed promising signs for treating
the tumor and prolonging survival rates for patients.

http://main.uab.edu/oadi/show.asp?durki=77788
In an earlier study involving just 18 patients, the company saw promising results,
said Matthew A. Gonda, TransMolecular's chief executive officer. All the people in
the study were in the worst-case scenario for brain cancer, with tumors that had
grown back after having been removed by surgery.

Patients with these recurring tumors typically live only four to six months, but
those in the study survived for an average of 6.3 months. Five of the 18 patients
lived longer than a year, and two have survived more than two years after getting
the treatment.

The study was too small to draw any conclusions about the therapy's effectiveness.
Nevertheless, Gonda said one important thing to note is that the 18 patients
received a single, small dose of the scorpion-based treatment.

"We anticipate we'll be able to amplify the effect with higher doses," Gonda said,
adding that patients did not report side effects from the treatment.

Shucks, and I thought muttering was how guys spoke all the time ;-)  I
always thought it was something to do with the male alter ego needing extra
space (or is it merely a bad aim!)

Just after wife and I got married, we were standing next to the toilet,
arguing about whether the seat should be prepositioned by the user to the
desired position or always be returned to the ladies' position. Just then,
Tigger the cat came up, put front paws on the rim and started drinking
from the toilet. Problem solved! New rule: all users put the seat AND lid
down after use.

I guess Tigger would rather drink loo water than die of thirst...

Now, now. We always kept a perfectly good, clean bowl of clear water by
the food dishes. Tigger knew that; he was one of the bigger water drinkers
among the cats we've had. In the instant case, he was just drinking out of
the toilet because it was a nifty new source of water for him.

He was also the all-time title holder for longest urination time. He would
routinely pee for twice to three times as long as any other cat we've ever
had. That's why it was easy to tell when he got a blockage, and before he
got anywhere near uremia.

ROUND WATER!!!  All cats seem to prefer water intended for other
purposes rather than the water set out for them.  We tend to keep the
lids down on the loo, and figure that any thing we are drinking will
probably get sampled by a cat if we leave it alone for more than a
minute.  Clifto, the gang at rec.pets.cats.anecdotes would get a kick
out of your stories about Tigger.

Ours would only drink water from a beaker on the window sill filled with
lots of pebbles, the water tasted best when it was slightly green..

Ah yes, anywhere they're not supposed to.
Me thinking back to them drinking out of an aquarium.
And my glass.
But their favorite of all, is a koolaid height container.
They can sit while drinking... (and not have to bend over or crouch)

I was thinking it might be the cold, same reason females don't want to fall in.

Springer spaniels also like to drink from toilets.
