There is some good news. My PET scan was negative. I don't need chemo!!
I will start radiation possibly as early as next week. I saw the
radiation oncologist today and they are going to do IMRT (hooray) on the
left side for about 6 weeks 30-35 treatments.
Friday I have a speech consult which will help me with mastication and
establish a baseline for comparisons during the radiation. I also see
the oncological dentist. Monday I start my simulation and mask-making.
They will also schedule a CT scan for a baseline. They want their own,
not the one we took in May at home. They gave me a scrip for Ativan to
take an hour before treatment. Tuesday I have the whole team approval of
the program and the meeting with the social workers and the rest of the
care team including nutritionists.
If I need dental work first, they'll delay for that.
Going to have it done at Anderson. The locals don't have the facilities
and the expertise on head and neck that MDA does. We have paid for a
monthly site at Camp Cancer and will drive home in our little car that
we towed behind the motorhome for weekends.
The shuttle service to and from MDA is working very well. Saving us a
small fortune in parking fees.
Hugs to all. I am thinking of you.

Excellent news, Janet. I have been following your story on this newsgroup.
(I have gotten on the newsgroup because a close cousin was diagnosed with
lymphoma this spring and I wanted to have contact with people dealing with
the disease).

Nice to see your ducks lining up nicely for you. The radiation seems like a
long haul and it is but the results should be worth your time!! Go for it!!

Thankfully, something good for you at last. I've just got back from a
weekend away and I read about your dog... I'm so glad you've got some
positive news now.
