Hello Cancees!
I hope you all had a happy and healthy 4th of July and Canada Day! The
family and I all celebrated together and had a good time even though we
missed our son who had just returned to Denver from a visit in SF with
his childhood buddy. We made some killer baby backs. Due to the
inclement weather conditions they wound up not only being parboiled,
but BBQ'd and pan fried as well. Corn on the cob, fresh asparagus with
lemon, green salad, and two tortes, apple and blueberry, made by son &
daughter. Mmmmmm!
It was back to work on Wed. Happily, there is nothing much to report.
A Complete Blood Count was done on Monday and all levels are
excellant. I continue to break out a bit from the Erbitux, primarily
on my back, though it is starting to creep around, but I don't mind as
the lesions are indicative of the medicine metabolizing in my body
effectively. Hey, studies were done!
My tongue is smoothing out and fairly sensitive, I got some medication
in anticipation of possible problems later on. I am maintaining oral
hygene as best as I can and have flouride trays on order from our
dentist. My voice isn't what it used to be. Not nearly as strong and
if i attempt to "use" it or raise it there can be some cracking. My
neck can feel unusually stiff and I am doing some excercises both for
my mouth and neck.
I only got in trouble once during the week. Got busted by someone who
overheard me tell a female patient she had a cute butt. They used a
very expensive German Lady Doctor to "spank" me. And in front of my
wife, oh my! I promised to be good and they are going to continue
treating me. Pshew!
Well, that's about it. 25% done. 6 more chemos and only 30 more
nukings. But, who's counting? Thanks for your love and support.
Knowing you are there means the world to me. Take care and keep well
and I'll be back! Remember, we're all in this together!
Love from your carcomaniac,
ipunty

Sounds like things are going well. Good for you !
And good for you about the mouth and neck exercises for treatment related
skin fibrosis.
I don't recall others mentioning them here, but saw that mentioned on a
board a few days ago.

J,
The pamphlet that MDA prints for head and neck radiation patients talks
about mouth stretching exercises every day. Their pamphlet is much less
scary than the pamphlets the radiation oncol at home gave me. I'm less
scared about getting my head-cooking at MDA.
