Can these be connected...lung cancer and new tumor in brain?

I know pretty much all there is to know about colorectal cancer, having
been by my Franzi's side from original diagnosis and two recurrences
through the final days.  But I have very little knowledge about lung
cancer and how it matastisizes, or if it does.  Today I had an e-mail
from step-daughter-n-law in Germany.  Her father now has a 2 cm tumor
in his brain.  He was operated on late 2004 for lung cancer and also
had radiation.  I do not remember any chemo involved.
This site is so helpful to all, I just know someone will bring me
along.  Thanks to all of you.  Blessings,   Enjoy today - it is all we
have.

The two were certainly connected in my brother's case.  He was treated for
lung cancer (operation and radiation) and it seemed successful after 2.5
years but a cancer cell apparently traveled to his brain and he died of
brain cancer a couple of years thereafter.

I have SCLC, and before it was officially diagnosed, I had a brain MRI, and
a thorax CT.  IIRC the brain is the favorite place for lung cancer to
metastasize. I've had 2 reoccurrences in my brain Both were treated with
radiation.  Chemo is not very effective against brain tumors due to the
blood-brain barrier.

Lung cancer (if I recall correctly) can spread to the liver, the bones, the
other lung, the adrenal and/or the brain. Spread is the most likely
although a new primary is possible.

I'm sorry that cancer's found it's way back inito your life.

Not as sorry as am I!!  The death of Reeves' widow really rocked me.
And the almost concurrent news from Germany.  Coupled with the stress
of my Friday's appointment for Wet AMD in right eye.  Laser and
injection.  (Hoping for off-label use of Avastin.  Fingers crossed for
bowel perforation.  Should not be as the strength is nothing like what
was used for Franzi in battle with the rectal cancer.  Thanks for
remembering and caring.
The good news...adopting a 3 year old male Shih-Tzu!  Need a companion
for beach walks and LingLing is 15 next month and not really up to it
anymore.
Blessings.  Enjoy today - it is all we have.

As others have stated, lung cancer spreads, in most cases to the bone, liver
and brain. I have SCLC and those are the areas that my onc is watching
closely.

It's very likely to be metastatic disease.
40-50% of lung cancer patients get clinical or subclinical brain mets

Thanks.  I did some research on MEDSCAPE.  Not unusual, it appears.
Does not look good.  I hope the young people can be resilient.
