Hi All,

An update for you.  Went to see the doctor on Tuesday and I approved for
another chemo.  My numbers are good enough not to even get a procrit shot.
I would like to clear something up.  When you are in Hospice, that does not
mean you are admitted in the hospital.  It mans they come and see you and
give you the meds they think you need.  They are so incredible!!!

The PET scan is still up in the air.  Will worry about that later.  So, on
the 6th I get my "cocktail" again.

The pain is less...working on a 1=10 scale, this morning it is about a 4
!!!!  When they started it was a 10, so I think that is pretty good, don't
you?
I have a hospice bed and a wheelchair...if I am feeling good enough, I am
going to the mall!  I have not been out of the this house for such a long
time.  Still vomiting on a daily basis, but the doctor put me on a higher
dose on one morphine, that should help as well. So, maybe I will have a life
again!

My Mom is coming for a visit this month!  I can't wait to see her.  As most
of you know, I decided to wait until I had to and it was time. All of you
were correct...she took it like a real trooper and said thanks for telling
her as not knowing is much worse than the unknown.

Gees, just realized it has taken me 34 minutes to type the email...I can't
control the keyboard real well.  At least this has spell check...who knows
how much longer if I had to check all the words.

Gotta go, time to get "happy" again!!

Keep the prayers coming, and I love you all.

Going to the mall sounds like fun. Sorry about the vomiting but I'm happy to
hear pain meds are helping.
I'm also pleased to read that you and your mother will be getting together.

Awesome. It is time that she knows. I'm so glad she took it so well.
Many hugs, Odie.
And thank you for taking the time to update us.

Quite the contrary, inceasing the dose of morphine is likely to make
the vomiting worse. It is well known problem with potent opiates.
You usually need somthing else to stop the vomiting, there are a
number of drug classes, and some are much more effective than others
in individuals. Some respond well to small doses of phenolthiazines,
or haloperidol, most resond to 5HT3 blockers such as Kytril or Zofran,
but while the Phenolthiazines and Haloperidol are 'cheap', the 5HT3
blockers are very expensive.,

Odie, I have been following you since you first came to this site.  I
have to say, YOU are the one who is the real trooper.  Having watched
my beloved Franzi travel down this long road, I am continually humbled
and filled with admiration for all of you in this battle. You certainly
have our prayers.  Blessings.

Definitely seconded.  You came here full of fear and uncertainty as if
you were terrified you would drop dead the next day, and look at you
now.  You're getting stronger and stronger in yourself as time goes on.
The cancer may take a hold and you may succumb to it in the end[1], but
it will NOT have triumphed because YOU have grown and developed so much
as a person.  Your strength and resolve do you great credit Odie, and
you will be remembered as a strong character rather than as a victim but
- NOT just yet 'cos you've got a LOT of living to do before that happens
:-)

[1] Yes I know that doesn't sound encouraging, but we're all going to
die of something so even though we may be in different boats we're all
sailing the same way.
