I got a call from the family doctor. Sonogram showed nothing abnormal but
pockets of fluid (since removed). Fluid was analyzed by a pathologist and
there were no atypical cells found.
An emergency transfusion was given because her CBC show extremely low red
count and since then she has been on the mend. She is lucid and seems
better than any time since I went North to get her. She is taking the
physical therapy more seriously this time and not moping and feeling sorry
for herself.

I've been looking in all day to see your news.  Great news, Chris!  I'm
glad your mother is better!!

Well, she still has congestive heart failure and COPD, but she always will I
think. But at least I won't have either the ethical question of what to do
for her nor the misery of trying to juggle transporting her and keeping my
job.

Chris also cautiously optimistic

Do they think she is cancer free? How did they explain the high CA-125?
Sounds like the nursing home is giving her good care.  Sounds like they are
working on building up her endurance. COPD and CHF is manageable. Is your
mother oxygen dependent? Living at home with oxygen can be a challenge.

Yes, they think she is cancer free. Of course they will still keep
investigating. That's what they do.
This nursing home seems head and shoulders better than the one in
Pennsylvania.
She has been on O2 for a long time. She knows the drill well, and I am
getting used to it.

When you mom is discharged, make sure she has Visiting Nurse and Physical
Therapy at home, otherwise she may loose the ground she has gained.
Actually from what you are saying you Mom is feeling better than she has for
a long time, this is great news. Alex

Kewlness times twelve! Great to hear it.

Hillary Clinton lambasted the 24-hour delay between the Cheney hunting accident
and his notifying the press. If asked why it took her 6 DAYS to notify anyone
about Vince Foster's suicide note, she'd say, "That's different, it took a
long time to forge that note convincingly."
