Hi Group,
I am having hodgkins for 1.5 years now, and i had chemotherapy ABVD, 8
sessions for 4 months in 2004.
I am very fond of eating out, specially junk food.
Though i am still infected, i cant help myself and i go out with
friends and eat.
Will it affect my health and increase the risk of hodgkin or any other
type of cancer.
Can i eat out 3 times a week, or on weekends or not at all?

For a person that had cancer in life, it is not advisable to eat out at
all?

People lose their lives to cancer.  Wherein the point of denying
yourself a life when you've got the chance of one?

Which type of hodgkins, Sandy?

Well, I have nodular sclerosing Hodgkins Lymphoma and have been eating
out rather a lot recently, due to the fact that I have now finished
chemo and didn't feel like eating out before.  I can't see why eating
out should affect cancer (but I'm no expert).  I'm sure eating a lot of
junk food affects your general health but I have been overweight for
years and at no point has anyone said to me that being overweight
caused my cancer or that I should watch what I eat during my treatment.
I had a lot of strange cravings during my chemo, and I just went with
them.  Now the chemo has stopped, the cravings have stopped.

After I've stopped celebrating being in remission, I shall go back to
trying to lose weight but, for the moment, I'm gonna enjoy myself!

Jeremy.

Hello Sandy,
ABVD is used for both types.
I think yours is Hodgkins opposed to NHL (non-hodgkins lymphoma), but
please to check with your doctors.
It's not good to assume.
I have two different places to refer you to, for support and information.
One's for Hodgkins, the other for NHL, so I don't want to refer you to the
wrong place.  Lots of people on each list for each disease to support and
help you along.
Please let us know once you've clarified with your doctor. If doctor asks
why, say you want to find right online support group.

You may also post here, but I want you with others with your same cancer,
as well.

It is actually Hodgkins Lymphoma,
It is NOT NHL.

Thank you Sandy,
There's 262 subscribers on the Hodgkins Lymphoma list at ACOR here:
http://www.acor.org/mailing.html?l=h
In oder to join, you must click on the list name, then "join".
Do select "digest mode" (at the beginning) in case there's too many
individual messages that come to you the other way). That can be changed
later if you prefer.
After you subscribe the "list owners" (moderators ) will send you an email
as to how and when you can sending messages to them.  That should keep you
busy getting to know them and they you.
I'm sure they'll be very welcoming and supportive.

If you have treatment questions, well, regards radiiation therapy, Steph's
usually around (here).
He's away for a bit.
Do keep in touch and let us know how it's going, as well.
My best wishes to you,
J

I just registered with this group so that I can say I 'm also
perplexed.  The ABVD I had didn't kill that many brain cells.

ROTFL,
Hi Tim.
Well, I was thinking that maybe her blood counts were low.
Some people warn others about washing fruit and vegetables when that
happens (infections), so maybe that's where she got the eating guide idea
from.

Did it killed all of your cancerous cells.
ABVD is given in combination with radio to clean cells.

I don't think "clean" is anything to do with it
