I had radiation treatment two years ago for rectal cancer now, two years
later, the area where radiation was directed is still
very itchy day and night . I tried various ointments without success. Anyone
else had this problem?

Hello Andy,
if you don't eat anything with simple sugars in it, does it still itch?
simple sugars (white bread, white potatoes, even tomato soup tastes sweet to me)

Try it for a few days. If it improves, you might want to check if you're
prediabetic or diabetic

Other ideas:
thrush - yeast
hemmorhoids?
dryness...

and tell us what (else) you've tried.
By then, maybe others can suggest something else or Steph may have a comment
when he returns.

Radiation Treatment is one disease causing factor in itself that brings
up cancer and other disorders later, i did not do Radiations because of
this fear and trying alternate medicines, I think that the one way to
reduce this itchiness is to expose yourself with fresh morning air and
do some breathing exercises during then.
I also believe that radiations may cause effects that cant be corrected.

*Splutter*  Can this one stay to play with us a bit please?  It's more
fun than the usual dross.

What a visual.  I can see me bums up in a field of dandelions.

hee, hee.. I forgot about the neighbours. And I'm kind of nude now too.
Long story about the stomach burn and how it wasn't healing and Sunday the
doctor gave me some cream (said it's infected) and the cream made it worse
and clothing was aggravating it, so I've devised a plan to not wet it
(shower only parts) and stay more or less unclothed for the duration,
until it's healed. :)  It's re-scabing over, a bandage pulled the first
scab off and I had a reaction to one of the bandages.  What an ordeal for
something that should have healed a week or more ago.

How's it going with your dental surgery now, Fig? Feeling better?
Hugs

You had said it might be deep.  Was this from cooking?  I'm sorry about
your injury & complications.  Your clothing strategy works better in
summer!  Stomach is awkward area to keep unclothed unless you're a belly
dancer.  Tried putting a jewel in navel?  You may surprise the meter
reader <g>.

All better!  Stitches feel loose.  Pocketbook noticably lighter.  Getting
ready for an early Cupid day.

And many hugs back, staying away from that hurty middle

<g> I'm wearing a flannel blanket. It's cold.  HotWater bottle did it, I
think. Cover came off in middle of night.

Not sure what you mean. Chokkies?

Thanks hun, I wouldn't let anyone near me right now. Just bending risks
reopening it.

Usually, but not for me this year.  Sprinkle rose petals under glass of
dining room table & arrange red, pink, cream candles with heart-shaped
objects collected from around house.  Sprinkle with heart confetti.  Plan
special meal - steak & lobster (ordered lobsters). Find the butter melter
with tea light candle thingies.  Clarify butter. Make raspberry vinagrette
for salad. Find recipe for gooey dark chocolate dessert & appetisers. Buy &
chill bubbly.  Decide on after dinner drinks & make sure I have.  Clean
fireplace & set new logs. Make valentine.  Invite Cupid...

Here too.  Came on suddenly this afternoon.  Now sleety mess.  Might need 2
flannel blankets <g>.

You think?  From your wounds, sounds more like someone attacked you with a
branding iron.  Either you were sleeping very soundly or that must be one
hot bottle. Just looked them up online. They *look* soft & friendly.  I
hope you've found a way to be safe with it.

Crossed for you.  Hope infection is healing.

For every 100 cancers cured, surgery cures about 50, radiotherapy about 40
and chemotherapy, at best, 10.

Andy?
There's some products listed here for dry itch (xerosis)
http://www.sclero.org/medical/symptoms/skin/xerosis.html
Udder Cream can be found at TSC stores
Bag balm, I'm told can be found at many veterinarians - maybe drug stores.

The solution depends on the cause and situation. (and the location).
I think a doctor might just hand you a corticosteroid cream and not examine you?

If you think it's hemorrhoid related, walkin clinic here has pamphlets with
tips.
Take warm (not hot) baths every night (or morning)
keep anal area clean - change underwear daily.
Use cleansing wipes, such as Tucks' Personal Cleansing Pads, to cleanse the
area.

If you've done all of that and you think it might be detergent related, try new
underwear.
If there's less problems, that says it might be detergent.

need some input from you, in order to get to solution for you.
Let us know, please.
