Good afternoon.

I am inviting six cancer patients who are now--or have
recently--undergone chemotherapy, to participate in a 60-minute
telephone interview on either February 8th or 9th, at any time of day
that is convenient for you.  Each participant will receive $100 as a
thank-you for their time and trouble.

If you, or anyone you know, might be interested in participating, please
do call or pass along my contact information, as soon as possible.

My client is only interested in learning about the patients' day-to-day
experience both during and after treatment.  Of course, this is entirely
confidential; this is not a sales presentation of any kind--strictly
medical opinion research.

Thank you and best regards,
David Leonard

This is a marketing scheme.

Nice catch, J!

Thanks clifto. It's not as easy as it may look.
I started by searching on his phone number on the www and came across his signature
that said "Market" (instead of Medical) and danger signals went off, so I searched
the archives and found the above.
Why is it that we always find the answer in the last place we look? :p

I even went as far as to phone him from the UK because I thought it was
"genuine".

If it is marketing, how could someone do that to people who are going
through chemo.  Do they think it is a walk in the park?  Trust me I can tell
you it is not.  It has its good days and bad and people should not try to
take advantage of people on chemo.

SHAME ON YOU.

Unfortunately this forum is plagued by the ghouls and idiots who try to
enrich either their wallets or egos by supposedly knowing more than all
of the trained personnel of the real world. They thrive on despair, and
the patient is often the loser.

Sadly, that's exactly how it works.  Shysters try to lure us into their
schemes when we are worn out, desperate, sick, elderly, hurting,
vulnerable. When no one else is giving us hopeful news, there they are with
a super-abundance!  We must always remember that whenever something seems
too good to be true, to go on red-alert.

Some of them are slick enough to suck in even healthy, educated, savvy
people  See this month's AARP bulletin re Marie Callendar's scheme  -
(that's just where they took the victims to lunch; Marie made her living
the old fashioned way - honestly).  Key word: took.

Why do you say he is not genuine? I have done focus groups with hi and never
had a problem.

I have been lurking on this newsgroup for nearly five years - I had stage 1
BC and a mastectomy with tram flap reconstuction.
J is a good resource, but in this case totally WRONG. David Leonard is a
lovely man here in NY, and I actually spoke to him yesterday.I did a focus
group with him a few years ago and it was fantastic. I met alot of wonderful
women and was paid for my time on the spot. You must have him confused with
someone else.
I will be celebrating my five year anniversary on June 19th and wish all of
you the best! Sometimes cancer does have a happy ending!

If you're going to argue, please have the decency to bottom post, so as to not
to cause me extra work.

Now you've ticked me off because in order to prove the point, I'm essentially
doing advertising for him (his company or the company he works for).

If you want to put your name on marketing lists, then go for it.
I will continue to warn others here not to do so.
