I hope I'm in the right forum here.
I was diagnosed with lung cancer on Oct 21/05. My doctor told me that
wirh the spread of cancer already in my body, there were no treatments
available and he would be surprised to see me in one year. I think he
might be wrong. i weighed 155 three months age. Today I weigh a125.
That's 10 pounds a month, so I figure I have at least 12 months left
before I wither away to nothing Aside from shortness of breath and
occasionally spitting up small amounts of blood, I'm feeling pretty
good. (Oh that's another thing I don't know what symptoms to expect)
That aside, I'm hoping to connect with other people intested in what
I'm doing. The last month has been the most uplifting experience of my
entire life. I am going into schools and talking to kids about the
mistakes I made when I was their age. I can see by their faces that I'm
connecting with a lot of them. I lived on the streets of Vancouver from
te age of 16 to 23. During that time I did every bad, rebellious snd
stupid thing I could get my hands on. At 24 I cleaned up my act, got a
job, got married, bought a house and business and settled into a
"normal" life.In 1997 I took ill and was diagnosed with Hepatitis C a
CONSEQUENCE I had never given any thought abouy. The doctors told me I
needed a new liver, so I was put on the waiting list fora new liver. I
received the liver in Dec/98. I was told I had less than a moth to
live, if Ididn't get te transplant. I was also told that, because of
the drugs I have to take to fight off liver rejecton, I would basically
bcome a perfect landing pad for infections.
So it was no surprise when I got the news in October. Now I plan to
make te best of the time I have left to get this important messgage out
and I could use all the help I can get.

Kevin, you should never post your telephone number to newsgroups.
There are nutcases here, who live close to you.

Doesn't work that way. Depends on the type of cancer, which parts of the
body are involved.
You are likely, but not definitive, to lose (a lot of) weight during the
last few months.
Steph can sometimes ballpark a prognosis, in certain situations.
Steph's away for a few days.

That varies, depending on which part(s) of the body may be involved.
If you're expecting emails, most of the regulars here, don't email.
That defeats the purpose of a newsgroup.
So be careful who you let into your email "inbox".
Since you spend 16 hours on youth education, I assume you won't have much
time for newsgroups.
We'll be here if you have questions (and give us enough information about
your cancer), but being complicated by the liver antirejection drugs, I
expect you to acquire information from your doctors instead.
Best wishes and thanks for posting about your project.
