My oncologist has scheduled for me a followup PET scan for Monday morning.
There is something different this time. I am to drink a barium milkshake
two hours before my appointment. That is a new one for me. What are they
trying to accomplish? This is a PET scan not a CT scan. Won't the barium
shadow the emissions? With a CT you are looking for shadows, but with a PET
you are looking for accumulations.

Barium? They gave me radioactive sugar to drink.

Just in case, remember that there's a formidable rate of false positives from
PET imaging; it happened to me. If they find a positive area, they may want
you to go for another type of imaging (MRI in my case).

my vote for President will be a write-in for Jiang Zemin.

My radioactive glucose has always been by IV. I presume it will be this
time also.

It was just over three months between the end of my RT and the second PET
scan (the first was before treatment).
