Gabriela, I don't know what's going wrong here, but the first article I can
find from you in this newsgroup is from the 29th titled "Lymphangitis", and
J and one other person answered you. I don't see anything from you about
breast cancer until this latest article I'm replying to.

She was in Stephen's thread ("Scream" in November, maybe it expired in your
newsreader).
I didn't feel it appropriate to hijack his thread by replying to her (about where
and how to access other newsgroups), since he's in UK and UK'ers sometimes pay a
line charge. Also due to his wife's circumstance. Or maybe I posted instructions
separately on how to access other newsgoups.
Hopefully she'll find her way over there. It really is the best newsgroup for her
and much quieter (less trolls and crossposts) than this one.
Happy New Year clifto !

Hello Gabriela,
There's only so much time in a day and i do the best I can, but I have other
responsibilities that I must take care of.
If you post to the breast cancer newsgroup, there's usually several replies to
each post.
Contact your ISP by telephone and request that they add
alt.support.cancer.breast to their list of newsgroups AND request their "news"
email address, so that you can confirm your request by email to the appropriate
department. Wait a few weeks and see if it is available on your list of
newsgroups.
If not, request it by email again. Then wait a few weeks and check again. Be
polite but persistant.
In the meantime, there are two other news servers.
http://news.individual.net/ (nominal annual fee) or free http://aioe.org/
The third way to access the breast cancer newsgroup, since you already have a
gmail account, should be quite easy.
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/alt.support.cancer.breast/ - save/bookmark
this page.
At the top of this page, it says "subscribe to this group". Click on that.
Enter your gmail email and password.
Once subscribed, you should be able to "start a new topic" or reply to any of
the posts there.
Replying In Google Groups (instructions)
http://www.safalra.com/special/googlegroupsreply/
You can stay here, but I think you'll get lost amongst the others. There's so
many types of cancers here and there's usually great repliers and supporters on
the breast cancer newsgroup.
There is no doctor there, but there is an RN and Tim is usually pretty good at
replying to posts.
Please give it a try, one way or another.
Hugs
J

Gabriela235,
Sorry to hear you are scared. J is a layperson with no medical credentials
other than sending lots of time on the boards and providing links She is not
a cancer survivor . She tries to be very helpful and answer everyone's
question but she does not have the patient or clinical experience. Many find
her extremely informative and reassuring since she is quick and usually
accurate in her responds. She donates her time, but doesn't not have medical
qualifications that I have seen her post. I am a Breast cancer survivor,
and a Registered Nurse, soon to be completing my advanced practice degree in
Nursing in less than 30 days! ( I can't believe it). Steph is a radiation
oncologist and will answer posts but probably found that your questions
where answered.
To read between the line, you are scare about the new complexity in your
care. Your "Lymphangitis" is not life threatening, annoying but no one has
died for it. It doesn't mean the cancer has spread which a great thing.
Hope you next appointment you'll get answers you are seeking and a treatment
plan.
Most medical professionals are leery to give to much information over the
internet since, . They have not completed a clinical assessment, and often
times what the patient self reports is not correct and some patients lack
the skill to understand medical jargon. Last point not all information on
the internet is accurate so their is a high probability of getting
information that could do more harm them good. If you are looking for that
type of information, a trained medical librarian can help you, most
hospitals do provide patients access to the medical library. The librarian
is trained to give you the most up to date information that is accurate.
For me the internet is a great place to get peer support, people who are in
similar situations that have walked in your proverbial shoes. It can help
with the isolation cancer patients and familes have.
Best of luck and Happy New Year. Alex
PS try to find the breast cancer group, they patients are incredibly
knowledge which their own disease and after all one patient support another
is what it is all about ( cancer support I mean).

She's in Chile.
She's had 12 surgeries. Only the most recent one is cancer related.
I'll watch for yuur replies to her on the breast cancer newsgroup.
Haven't seen you there lately, unfortunately for them.
By the way, there's a lady now there who could use your "professional" assist .
She's from the US and I expect you could point her to case management experts in
her State.
