His friends here in Germany are lining up for Colonoscopies!  Just
think, he may well be a ife saver for one or more of them.  I know one
has had polyp removed!  Two women go this week.  These are the people
he skied with, socialized with, went on bicycle tours with, and
attended the weekly "stammtisch*" with.  (*Stammtisch...a table
reserved in the local bar at a specific time weekly for all to gather
and talk and drink beer for a few hours.)
Closing up this apartment is not easy.....so many memories get in the
way.  I have 12 years of stuff here....to bring home.  I put about 7
bags in the local clothing bins.  Mailed some to sisters in Bavaria.
Still have too much STUFF!  Not many visitors....hard for them too.
Friends and even neighbors break into tears.  I am a reminder that
things have changed for ever.
I read the input with great interest.  SO many different ways of
dealing with conditions.  And the more I read the greater is my
admiration for one and all.  Franzi was terrific...never a complaint.
Always cheerful - for me.
You advice to another.....wake everyday and decide what you can do for
your partner to make his/her life better.  To make him/her happy.  That
is the way Franzi and I lived and loved and I have no regrets.  Only
regret we did not have more time together.
For the most part, this site is one big loving caring family and I am
humbled to be allowed to continue to belong.   Blessings.  Enjoy today
- it is all we have.

Stammtisch sounds like fun.
I suppose one cannot get checked for every possible cancer, but the legacy
that Franzi's death has left (to his friends) is the reality that cancer
can happen to anyone, even very healthy persons.

Are you okay out there?
Haven't heard from you for 10 days.
Hugs
