My dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer this year and now wears a
stoma bag. They have removed his bladder, part of his ureter and prostate
gland. He went for his 6week MOT today and the news wasn`t too good. Why
can`t they pick up forming cancer cells before it is too late? The
higher they went into into the ureter the more abnormal cells they have
found.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad.
What's the implications, please?  More surgery and radiation therapy?

I think pet scans can see cancer cells (but I'm not sure), but there's
false positives.
