Sadly, DH's cousin passed away yesterday in B.C. He had
pancreatic/liver and stomach Cancer and was assured he could be "cured"
by a Herbalist out there. After having a major stroke last week, his
family begged him to let them take him home to Alberta but his
Herbalist was "treating" him in the hospital (the hospital must have
felt it wasn't going to do any more harm) so he wouldn't let them bring
him home. Now they are bringing him home in a casket - his wife and
kids are out there without any support while they get it organized.
Quite heartbreaking.

Steph,
It could be weeks or months before there's time for Sharon to get the
details.
My guess is that he was treated like a visitor who brought the cousin herbal
teas.
Since the cousin was dying, they decided not to make an issue of it.
There really was nothing they could do, since he refused to go back home and
wanted to stay near the "herbalist".

Steph, I'm not sure that I understood your response the other day.
Do you need his doctor's name in order to call the hospital (to inquire about
this situation) ?

If there is someone purporting to be a medical doctor, someone who knows
the facts needs to speak to teh College, but not me.

oh good, because the only doctor involved is a real doctor; the other is an
herbalist; not claiming to be a doctor AFAIK.
So we'll consider this matter closed.
Thanks Steph,

When they get done ... give Al-Anon a go ... might learn something about
living a better life and have a better death. Cousin did what cousin wanted
to do mostly from living in fear .. living in love is better to my
experience ... imo and all that rot ...

I'm so sorry, Donna, so sorry.
We've heard of one (from Canada headed down to some quack in the US) who
died alone in a motel "chasing a cure".
It's awful for family to lose a loved one; even worse when things like this
happen.
It's heartbreaking that they have to deal with all the extra alone out
there, when all they want to do is be with loved ones who could be there
for support, while they're grieving.
Thank you for letting us know.
