I see, on the MS newsgroup, that the following person, who posted here,
(and possibly) others are emailing people off newsgroup.

Do not reply to him by email.

1) munge (spoof) your email address for posting to newsgroups
2) use your email reader to "block sender" (insert the name/email address
of the offender into it) and the software will send unwanted emails to
your email "trash" folder
3) I use http://www.poppeeper.com/  The version I have is a tiny free
program, that starts when you boot your computer system, (in the Startup)
and polls your ISP's server every 5 minutes for incoming emails, as soon
as you connect to the internet. The icon/program sits in your systray
(System tray at the bottom of the screen) and a little red flag waves to
tell you if emails are incoming. You can preview, see who is sending,
subject line, size (etc) and if unwanted, delete right off the server, so
it never hits your Inbox at all. In Configuration, enable "Advanced" to
change your settings. Compatible with many email programs.

first time you copy his abuse desk on a request to stop mailing
second time and going forward, report it to http://spamcop.net

that solves the problem nicely

Thanks Socks. I passed it along and saved it.
I take the path of least resistance. Munging and poppeeper.

My yahoo email account sequesters spam and all I have to do is click "empty".

Strangely the callforvotes yahoo account, never gets spam.
So I think that everyone should have an email address that starts with
callforvotes ;-)
Spammers or spam software must have that (callforvotes or any email address
with vote in it) to not send spam to those addresses, is the only explanation
I can think of.

More to add on this subject.
Just because a person emails that they also have cancer, does not mean that
you necessarily want their emails in your "inbox" and/or guard your computer
carefully.
I've been meaning to tell you that I researched one patient here.
By backtracking, in the archive,s through his various email changes, he 'has
posted on teen newsgroups asking for photos...and offers to "party"on other
newsgroups.  Found his webpage, he's a pimp for escorts.
Guard your email inbox carefully. Don't let your kids read your emails.
And beware requests for money or meetings with unknown persons.
For you and yours' safety.

I agree, there are all sorts out there in this marvellous world of ours.
Unfortunately some are not very salubrious and need to be kept at bay.

I'm an ex sysadmin, and have run a couple of isps in the past, so I
regularly take my killfile for a wander through the highways and byways
of this electronic wonderland to see what they are up to.

I'm only new to this group myself, and I don't want to go stepping on
your toes J, but if you would like my support in keeping predators and
kooks away from this support group I would be happy to help.

If any of these characters turn up here you can be sure I'll let you know.

I just want to clarify that I don't research everybody who posts here.
Sometimes troublemakers or loons.
In the instance I mentioned, the posts were odd, the email address was "odd" and I
guess, it was a gut feeling. At the time, I think I told him that we don't
encourage emailing off group.
I proceeded to help him with his issues anyway. It was later that I discovered the
info that I just shared and obviously can't post "don't reply to him, he's a blah,
blah, blah". He was still a cancer patient.
There were no replies to my posts (like "thank you" or any confirmation that he'd
seen my replies), so if he expected emailed replies from me, he did not get any.
I try to treat everyone equally and help as much as I can regardless. (I guess is
my point).

Thanks Rob. If you want to know kook-tactics, email me at
callforvotesdog@dogyahoo.dogca ((take out the dogs)

I'm not sure how you would know, Rob.
There was no sign of in his posts. I researched him in the Google archives.
But thanks. This newsgroup could use some extra "protection".
It was much, much worse years ago.  I'll tell you more on email, if you're so
inclined.

Best,
J
