had an interesting procedure today.

Kaiser runs a pain clinic. they tried a procedure called an intercostal
block deadening a couple of nerves that serve the areas where most of my
pain is. today they did a temporary fix to determine if they had found the
right area.  If they were successful, I go back Apr 4 to make it permanent.

On the second one they tried, I announced "bingo" the minute the needle
went in. The sensory reaction I had told me that they had found exactly the
right place, and let them know it so that they could flag it for next time.
It is now sneaking up on 1900 MST, after the procedure was done around 1500
MST.  I had my regular morphine this morning, and my regular Ibuprofen at
noon. nothing since.  on normal days i would be thnking about my second
round of oxycotin by now.  I can hardly wait for Apr 4.

Thanks. The minor operation yesterday was intended as an experiment to
determine whether they had identified the right place and whether their fix
actually eased the pain. They warned me that it wouldn't last much more
than 8 hours this time out. Since I slept until 3 AM, I'd say that it
lasted closer to 12 hours. I'll take it.

Apr 4 an operation will make it permanent, now that they know for sure
which nerve was causing the pain.  Left side, 10 rib, a finger or two out
from the spine.

I am revamping my web site today.  I'll update the blog at some point in
the proceedings to give more details.  I brought home a copy of the
fluoroscope pictures, but they didn't scan very well.

Socks
is your blog a private thing, or can anyone turn up for a look?

blog hasn't been revamped yet. Give me a couple more hours. It is noon
MST right now.  Figure on 2200 GMT I'll have the blog up to date.

In other good news, Figgertoes got a job.

<Sigh of relief> Thank goodness for that.  You can breathe a
little now.  A job with money?  So, when's your flight?  :-)

Wore off around 3 AM, as expected and warned. Actually, I was warned that
it would wear off by midnight.

Very definitely the nerve associated with the left 10 rib was the crux of
the problem.  They are going to permanently deaden it on Monday.

And figgertoes has a job
