You are most welcome Pete.  Actually I am very lucky to still have a working
computer to send Birthday Wishes on - long story cut short, Kelly wanted to
"impress" me while I was out and when I got back she was on the doorstep
with tears streaming down her cheecks muttering "please don't kill me".....
it turns out she tried connecting her new digital camera to a "live"
computer - end result : loud bang, glowing red and puff of smoke!  And all
this an hour before her birthday celebrations began so I couldn't even go
potty with her!

Fortunately a good buddy was called in - turns out she had switched over the
110v-240v and only blown the fuse in the power supply - close shave for her
though ;-)

It certainly was not the teenage behaviour that I was expecting though ;-)
And yep, strong lecture on electricity certainly ensued cos I am sure a perm
wouldn't suit her.

Have a lovely day today Pete.

as bad when they are 40 years old like 3 of mine are now;-)

Emily,

Does manically bouncing on the kids trampoline count?? If so, can I join?
Hubby and I went out there the other night after getting home from a liquid
night out - it was really good fun until we both fell at the same time - he
kicked me in the face and I stuck a foot up his nose! We decided it was a
little bit too dangerous and retired to the spa instead...

Happy birthday to Steph and Pete

Oh yes, definitely!  Bouncing on a trampoline, against all
reason and common sense, is one of the main qualifying
activities for the Big Kids Club :-)

I'm starting to panic about 40.

6years to go and nervous now. What state will I be in by then :)

Oh, you poor old thing.  I was already over 40 when my last
child was born!

And you have survived? I have barely enough energy to keep up with my two
now.

Watching the rugby this weekend? I support Ireland, my hubby is Scottish and
my best friend Welsh. (You are Welsh?) We live across road from our local
rugby club and have spent most of the 6 Nations so far glued to the big
screen watching.

I hope Wales win on Sunday, I want to see a Grand Slam game Ireland/Wales
next weekend :)

What's more remarkable is that the /children/ have survived!

*Groan*  Energy?  What's that?  One of the beauties of having
a brace of teenagers is that they're old enough to keep an eye
on their younger siblings when their poor old mother crashes
out on the sofa and dozes off for a bit :-)

> Watching the rugby this weekend?

'Fraid not.  Not only am I not a rugby fan (cries of "burn the
heretic!") but I haven't got a TV.

Although I live in Wales and can hold my own in Welsh I'm
actually English, having been born and brought up in
south/Greater London.  All my children are Welsh though - they
were all born here and have never lived anywhere else.

> I hope Wales win on Sunday, I want to see a Grand Slam game Ireland/Wales

Oh yes, that would be great.  Most of my friends are rugby
fans (and totally fail to see how I can remain indifferent to
it) and a lot of them are going to Cardiff to watch the match.
If Wales lose there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing
of teeth on a grand scale, and life around here will be all
doom and gloom for a long time to come.

Hey, now that I have joined the 40's club Sinead, take it from me, there's
nothing to worry about.  Age is simply a number and it is the age of your
mentality that counts more than your birth certificate (so I must still be a
toddler!)

The problem is that I feel only 22 when I am out and about with hubbs and
friends, but first thing in the morning I feel at least 82.

I really do feel sometimes that one day, someone is going to tap me on the
shoulder and say "Caught you! Think you could get away with being a grown up
and raising children?" I've heard others say this, but I do think (every now
and again) " How did I get here? How did I get to be married and a mother?
I'm not old/mature/sensible enough!"

Mind you - the day someone describes me as sensible I'm gonna take myself
off somewhere - that would be the ultimate insult!

Take care all of you
Sinead

PS I am alarming myself recently, I must confess. I didn't realise how I
would start to care about others on the newsgroup.....I guess you all just
snuck up on me!

A school master once called me sensible. Just once was enough. I

glue;-)

That's the problem with newsgroups - they have a habit of
becoming family.  Mind, I'm not knocking it - I've met quite a
few of the 'sheddi' (from uk.rec.sheds, which is a group of
amiable lunatics and nothing at all to do with garden
outbuildings) and some of them are now counted amongst the
best friends I have.

Aha, it was you who is 40 (and not pete's wife). And if Google is correct, it's
the 9th?

Thank you for reminding us about pete's birthday, Alayne

I also wanted you to know that several places are now making chocolate pizzas.
I saw a bit on the news about one nearby (in Canada).
For a view of one/some in the US http://www.thechocolatepizza.com/ (see Catalog)

A Large choc pizza is $30 US and comes in a real pizza box!

Perhaps one of your friends will think of you and find some somewhere locally.
I also imagine one could be made...

Yes, it's me that's an old fart next week ;-)  My ma called in today and we
joked that perhaps I will turn into a "model citizen" like Harry Enfield
turns into a "model teenager"; on the morning of my b.day I will awaken to a
yearning to wear purple polyester and bake cakes for the PTA..... perhaps
not eh, polyester will probably be very cold on the bike ;-)

That's sounds interesting, but I wouldn't want to dilute the chocolate with
pizza.

He's not 40. What's to celebrate ? <smile>

Whoever's celebrating that day is in good company...
Born on March 9
1451  Amerigo Vespucci, Italian navigator.
1824  Leland Stanford, railroad builder, founder of Stanford University.
1890  Vyacheslav Molotov, former Soviet Prime Minister.
1892  Vita Sackville-West, writer.
1905  Peter Quennell, biographer.
1910  Samuel Barber, American composer ("Adagio for Strings," Vanessa).
1918  Frank Morrison Spillane [Mickey Spillane], crime writer (Kiss Me, Deadly,
The Erection Set).
1930  Ornette Coleman, jazz saxophonist.
1934  Yuri Gagarin, Russian cosmonaut, the first man to orbit the Earth.
1943  Bobby Fischer, first American world chess champion.
1947  Keri Hulme, New Zealand novelist (The Bone People)

That book "The Erection Set" looks interesting...<g>
I have read Spillane but do not recall that one.

Hmm.  I know that feeling.  I still feel very like I did 20 or

You probably don't J ;-), the last time was for Malcs 21st and I "ordered" a
roly-poly gram for him (although the "ladies" in the Miss Wet T-Shirt were
about four times her size - glad I wasn't judging that comp!)

Chuckle - this year I have a naked limbo dance in mind for the Mr Rally's -
what do ya reckon?  As long as it is not too cold in the marquee...

Errr.. I'm afraid to ask.  what's a roly-poly?

The chocolate pizza had shrivelled nuts on it ;-)
I think they have to keep it cooled...
J-losing it ;-)

Shrivelled nuts - isn't that a sign of old age too....

Alayne - definitely lost it this morning.

Thanks Em, I took my own therapy against the purple polyester and have just
got back from the hairdressers (3 flippin hours but haven't been in years!)
and now have blonde and red streaks, radical.  I've also got a oh so yummy
box of Thorntons and a bottle of red plonk - such a shame that Wales is a
good few hours away and they just won't keep...........

Warm Hugs

To be really authentic it should be a totally shapeless dress,
just below knee length, made of purple and green paisley Rayon
and tied in the middle with a strip of the same ghastly
material vaguely made into a belt.

Or over 40 as I am.  The day I stop doing stupid things will
be the day I give up life  :-)

Thanks Emily. No party these days and no ice cream either but I added
another Buddha to my collection which is nearly all made up of
christmas and birthday pressies. In a weeks time my youngest will be
35 and I bet his pressie costs me more than mine cost him;-)
{{{{{BIG HUGS Emily}}}} and thanks for your good wishes.
