I posted this in the thyroid group, but thought this would be a better
place.

I have been diganosed with Hypothyroidism and as of
yesterday, fibromyalgia. I had routine blood work done by by doctor and
neurologist, each independent of the other. My regular doctor said my
ANA titer was 1:360 ( posted a mssage on this about a week ago), so he
sent me to a rheumatologist. She did more blood work and the
abnormalties were ANA = 1:160 homogenous (different lab did this one),
SED rate modified by Westergren = 29 H, C-reactive Protein = 1.20, and
TSH w reflex to T4 = 0.01.

Now, my neurologist did a bunch of work (can't remember it all) but she
said that my SPEP was abnormal (didn't say what part) and she ordered
an Immunofixation test.

The rest of my test results were in the normal range. I do not know
what all my neurologist had done, but taking what little I have
written, is this something I should worry about in terms of Multiple
Myeloma or is this just an offshoot to my thyroid condition and
fibromyalgia? I was also tested through this for Lupus but did not meet
enough of the criteria to be diagnosed as such.

Also, I am going in for a sleep study for narcolepsy. I meet all the
criteria and they want to do the overnight and next day test. With all
this going on, I don't know what to expect. Any comments or thoughts on
this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you would have read this, I was asking about the immunofixation test
that screens for multiple myeloma. This is an appropriate place. Thank
you.

Ask a cancer hemotologist. There isn't one here.
In fact, I'm not sure that I've seen one anywhere on newsgroups.
This is _not_ a "please diagnose me" newsgroup.
Thank you.

I'm not asking for a diagnosis. just wanted to know if anyone else has
had this kind of test. Sorry if I disturbed your brooding. I'll go now.
Sheesh.

> Sheesh.

Just for the record, stay with your rheumatologist and always get the
bloodwork done by the same lab.
And keep copies of your labwork and diary your symptoms. As you said, you
do not "currently" meet the criteria (for Lupus), but things can change
(over time).

Most of the myeloma patients (or their carers or loved ones) here are
either too ill or incapable of commenting on your type of question.
