52% - but of what? (cervical cancer)

My friend with cervical cancer reports that her latest blood
tests show 52% cancer cells.  I can sort of work out what this
means, but not entirely, IYSWIM.  Anyone got any idea what
this refers to, given that I'm fairly sure she doesn't have
cancer in half her body?  AFAIK the cancer is confined to the
cervix and possibly the bowel and the phrase "52% cancer
cells" is one used by her when talking to me.

Thanks

I try to be a good example to my children, but they just see
me as a dire warning.

What test, Em?
CTC Circulating Tumor Cell?
If so, you've hit on one of the problems..(where)
I think it goes something like this, if your score is 5 or less, there's
less of a chance of metastasis.
I see problems with that too. False negative, if the cancer cells aren't
shedding.
False positives, since we may all have cancer cells circulating...(see
other post - I want to ask Steph)
I don't think it's used conventionally, but some people go "outside the
system" and pay for it themselves.
A woman on the BC newsgroup keeps having more scans done because she's
convinced her cancer has returned.
Nothing can be found. (ie there's nothing to treat, but she's developed
quite a case of anxiety over it)
Apparently it's been around since 1869.

So that tells me that oncologists know about it and it is virtually
useless.. IMO

If yoi're talking about a different test, let us know.

Oh.  Knowing the lady that seems odd.  I won't see her now
until after Christmas (probably) but I'll try to ask for more
information then.  She's not a great one for talking about it
so she might not be very forthcoming; however I can but try.
52% was definitely mentioned, and apparently it's not good -
perhaps I didn't understand entirely what she was talking
about.  It was definitely a blood test though.
