It's good to hear that you're improving daily. You are indeed a survivor to have
battled two cancers.
Which type of lymphoma did you have? A friend in Calgary has CNS lymphoma. If I
recall correctly, they used her own stem cells so AFAIK she doesn't have to take
the anti-rejection meds. So far, she doesn't post here, but might be reading.
She's had some lung and chronic cold problems and I think I just read that, at
some point, she may have to redo her immunizations. She had quite a tough time
with the chemo, then the stem cell (last Fall), but she's improving now with
residual peripheral neuropathy /weakness in one arm. She's in wait mode as to
what they'll suggest next, since there was only a partial response.
We don't get a lot of survivors here (at least, not on a regular basis).
I expect it's because they mostly like to move on with their lives.
So, good to hear from you.
Best,
J

Well the first lymphoma was a stage 3B Hodgkin's, chemo alone got ride of
that one; unfortunately the one chemo drugs that was in the protocol I was
subjected to, had a nasty little side effect of causing leukemia. My body
just went for a trip and I never even left the building! So to make a long
story short I had a Bone Marrow Transplant. My eldest sister was a match,
however the side effects and the problems that come along with it are a bit
tiring. I'm on one hell of a pile of drugs, Adavan to Zanax with about 14
others in-between. I try to inspire others that you have to fight!! I see
cancer everyday, not just in my own mind but in my children's lack of a dad
for two years, and a wife, whom is a loving caring oncology nurse ( guess
where I met her). So that's my story so far; people say I'm tough, no not
really just Happy.
