I just did did another American Cancer Society Relay For Life event.
This one was different though, as I wasn't just a fundraiser....I was
invited there as a survivor.

There I was, along w/a host of other survivors, walking a lap at the
high school track.  Music's playing, people are clapping,  Felt a
little strange, as I'm not one for a lot of attention.....but it felt
good too.  And as we were walking around, I saw some people on the
side, clapping, tears running down their faces.  Who knows why.  I
could've guessed plenty of good reasons why.  So, I did the only thing
I could think - reach out and grab their hand as I walked by.

If you get a chance, attend a cancer fund raising event - as a
survivor, supporter or patient even.  You can't go wrong.  :-)

We kept this one low key - just my wife and I.  I wanted her to have
me to herself for this one.  On my 2nd lap, she joined me.  That felt
really good!  I think next time, we'll create a team and raise money
selling items from gotCancer.org.

I am a volunteer for that event here at my hometown of Halifax. We
are doing it June 11th. I also did it last year too. I will Be turning
19 June 28th. I have not had anyone die of cancer, but its a great
feeling to volunteer and it alot of fun!
