I thought this is an unmoderated group - I don't remember signing up for any
special access. Is there a moderator here who manages the group?
Thanks
From Google:
By its very nature, Usenet consists of information posted by many people.
Google does not monitor or control the content of this information. Instead,
we simply provide access to the public forum in which people post their
comments.
Accordingly, if you are concerned about a message that someone has posted,
you need to resolve that problem directly with the person who posted it.
Except in extreme circumstances, Google will not act upon an individual's
request to remove another person's messages. We firmly believe it is not
Google's role to resolve disputes among the users who have posted millions
of messages on Usenet, nor would it be possible to fulfill that role if we
chose to undertake it.
It is Google's policy to respond to notices of alleged infringement that
comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in an appropriate manner
under such Act and other applicable intellectual property laws, including
the removal or disabling of access to material claimed to be the subject of
infringing activity. For more information, see our Terms of Service.

Hi Alexandra
This is an unmoderated newsgroup. However, there is a charter/FAQ for
the group that can be found at:
http://www.cancersupporters.com/asc/index.html
It is generally considered good netiquette to comply with written
charters or FAQs when posting to a newsgroup.
Best regards,

This isn't a moderated group. There are a few things that are generally
accepted here. Because so many of us are in a vulnerable position here,
trolls promoting non- medically sound advice are not welcome. So many
people here are looking for hope, a cure or just comfort that someone may
use this to their advantage. I do believe in alternatives, but there is a
point where my skepticism begins and the trust ends. We have all heard of
miraculous healings of cancer, through prayer and strong beliefs, however,
are they more prominent than the person cured by chemo, radiation and
surgery? No. My husband did not beat this fight and he had two convents
praying for him and two very catholic families. It doesn't necessarily work
for all. Please know that those people here, who ask that the charter be
read, is both for your good and mine. Cancer and the fear of the unknown do
strange things to a persons mind, especially when given a 'too good to be
true' solution.
Take care

When I read things like "member is good standing" the message below I was
thinking I was intruding on a private group, with Jerry the Leader and
owner of the group and J as the moderator.
I am a seven year cancer survivor and do find information here helpful. I
don't appreciate people trying to profit from my cancer. I do see someone
took time to write a charter, but the charter itself says in enforceable. I
have never tried to who I am and what I am here for.
Yet I see posting like the one below.
If people want a secured area, why not set up a web site or yahoo group
where you can block people, I thought the beauty of the newsgroups it is
open to anyone , even people you don't agree with.
Alex
Or
To Jerry:
Jerry, so sorry to trouble you.
Alex is from the alt.support.cancer.breast newsgroup.
She seems to take issue with what I am doing here.
Her e-mail address is akoffman@attbi.com
She has "tagged onto" a thread started by someone who is questioning me and
Steph
on both newsgroups.
Here's the tinyurl of that posters posts. http://tinyurl.com/2hwnb
I will forward his posts with full headers to you so you can see.
After he posted what seems to be a portal or gateway url (which has nothing
with
cancer on it whatsoever), I warned him away with the alt.support.cancer
Charter
(see the top of this post - or the posts that I will forward to you) and now
Alex
is questioning me.
She has also done this or similar (aligning herself with troublemakers on
this
newsgroup) in the past. http://tinyurl.com/3hla2
The full thread (and you'll see who started the problem upon which she
"piggybacked") http://tinyurl.com/3ah7g
I will probably email you privately for more on this.
Again, I'm very sorry she is causing you and me all this work.
I trust you will deal with her in your usual professional manner (as time
and
energy allows).
Thank you !

Alex,
Although the newsgroup is in the alt hierarchy of Usenet it has no
relationship with alternative medicine. The purpose of the newsgroup is to
provide support to cancer patients and care givers.
The purpose of the Charter is to deter people from posting unproven and
potentially worthless or harmful cures. An example: We had a regular that
posted on the group, he was sure that drinking his urine would cure his
prostate cancer. He died last December from the cancer.
This not a private group. But we do try to discourage posters from
encouraging terminal cancer patients to use cures that have NOT
successfully completed a clinical trial.
We are also human and tend to annoy those that annoy us. Seems you have
that characteristic as well.(I mean that in a nice way.)

Jerry,
It's good to see that you have a fantastic way with words...
"tend to annoy those who annoy us!" I am a master of that! Especially this
week:)
Take care
