48 hours after surgery she was already walking around the hospital ward with
the nurse, amazing. This morning at 9:00am I couldn't reach her so I got a
little worried. Finally at 10:00am she picked up the phone and told me she
had breakfast which consisted of eggs, toast and oatmeal and took off around
the hospital ward for excercise.
I said to her that was nice of the nurse to walk you around but she said
"who needs a nurse, I got up by myself and walked aroundf". So about 66
hours after Laproscopic colon cancer surgery she is eating solid food and
getting out of bed and wakling around by herself. Not bad for a 75 year
old!!!!

Whoo!  Good for her!  Let's hope her attitude continues - it
sounds as though she's got it about right :-)

That's wonderful news, MAC !
Please tell her we're all "pulling" for her full recovery.

Thanks Guy's for your support!
Hopefully the pathology report is also positive and the staging is a low
number!
PS they pulled the  catheter out, along with the epideral for pain all
within 72 hours of her surgery.
She is pain free without any oral medication. I highly recommend minimially
invasive surgery with a highly
qualified surgeon who is past his learning curve...Dr Weiser at
Sloan-Kettering is an incredibly surgeon.
My Mom calls him Doctor Blue Eyes!!!

Hi Morgs,
I took mom home this morning, really unbelievable. She only spent 3 full
days in the hospital after surgery.
She is in no pain and independent already, cooking and doing her bills
today. I'm really amazed at her progress.
I was told by a couple of people to be prepared to look after her when she
comes home because she'll be incapacitated
for about three weeks. But their experience was with open surgery not
minimally invasive.
When the diagnosis of colon cancer was made 5 weeks ago it threw me into a
emotional rollercoaster.
I was fearing the worst with all these scenarios running thru my head. But I
faced the fear with my mom, did my research
and picked a great institution in Sloan-Kettering, a top notch surgeon in Dr
M Wesier of the colorectal department and I went with the Laproscopic
surgery.
Hope all is well with you and your husband.Things will work out for you.
Prayers for you
