http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search

type alt.support.cancer in the "Return only messages from the newsgroup"
box
(I usually start by sorting by date, depending on the search words or
phrase)

In the case of (for instance) Astrocytoma, I would limit the search to 3
months first to see who the most recent posters are, then re-search
under each poster's name to follow their progress and/or find them on
the newsgroup and read their recent posts.

Then I might search further back, so change the time criteria to
"anytime".

This is just one example of how to search the archives.

Thanks J
I went back to look at Patrick's old threads.  It gave me another piece of
him to keep.  I didn't know how to look for them before.

Hi Salisha, I'm not sure if you searched all newsgroups.
If not, his first posts were on sci.med.diseases.cancer
http://tinyurl.com/2zclx
But I believe there were some earlier posts before he started munging his
e-mail address because my first reply there (above) to him was "good to hear
from you, I was worried about you".
(only you would have that info and be able to search them out).
Hopefully you can find them
Hugs Salisha
J
