Emily - 15 Apr 2004 01:00 GMT A bit of light relief to take your minds off your day to day troubles...
A wealthy old lady decided to go on a photo safari in Africa. She took her faithful pet dachshund along for company. One day, the dachshund starts chasing butterflies and before long the dachshund discovers that he is lost. So, wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch. The dachshund thinks, "OK, I'm in deep trouble now! Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by, and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat.
Just as the leopard is about to leap, the dachshund exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here." Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid- stride, a look of terror comes over him, and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew," says the leopard. "That was close. That dachshund nearly had me."
Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes. But the dachshund saw him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figured that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard, who is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine."
Now the dachshund sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back, and thinks, "What am I going to do now?" But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet...and just when they get close enough to hear the dachshund says....
"Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard!"
I'll get my straightjacket.

Daffman - 17 Apr 2004 22:13 GMT Not too bad, still crying but not as much. Although, I think it might be because I am back to work. I am trying to keep busy, the creditors are starting to circle though, surprise, surprise. Just waiting for my 1st paycheck to come in, so I can get them off my back. Oh well. Anyway, still lonesome here, but working helps to pass the day. Oh yeah, and I am sort of half assed on the weight watchers diet. I need to fit into my good clothes again! I just bought a sundress last May and it is too tight now!...eeek! Hoping the fat fighting God strikes me soon!:) Hugs girls. Salisha

Glad to hear that you are back at work, if nothing else it will keep you busy, your mind focused and the creditors off your back.
Tears will always lurk for a while yet, I was caught out the day before yesterday when my kid sister came round with some photo.s of me and Tone that she came across, boy were we young in them! Few rapid blinks and the smile was back, it just catches me unawares sometimes that's all.
Em dieting eh. Not too sure about that one - what about joining a gym or swimming instead? Dieting in my mind involves far too much deprivation whereas exercise burns calories and leaves a feeling of well being. You could even just treat yourself to some new clothes!
Glad to hearing that you are doing okay Salisha, you are not far from my thoughts and I am more than happy to tow you down the road behind me!

> Hugs girls. And back at you. It sounds to me like you're doing OK, to be honest. Grief takes everyone different ways, and it doesn't just go away with a click of the fingers when a set time has passed.

Daffman - 18 Apr 2004 22:52 GMT I have a little post that I absolutely love. It is of a little fat cat, face all scrunched up, and Praying...
"Please God, if you can't make me thin, Please, oh please, make my friends fat!"
Here's hoping ;)
As for doing OK, I was until this weekend. It is 7 full weeks since Pat passed away, almost to the minute, 7:45pm. I went back to work this week and I had a resident pass away yesterday morning, and I had just helped him eat on Thursday lunch, and then today (I am a sucker for punishment!) I helped the nurses pack up his belongings, and then I attended a church service for the residents(part of my job) and I had to leave early from the service, (one of the girls was there to take my place when I left the service) so tonight, I have a feeling I will have a cry, I did last night, and then off to a fitful sleep for me. Oh well, sh.t happens!

You'll get good days and bad days Salisha, you just have to go with the flow and hope that one day there are more good days than bad. I had a bit of a sniffle myself last night and I am sure that Tone is still playing tricks on me. I got up to go to the loo and for the first time in ages turned the landing light on, as I was going down the stairs I spied with my little eye a little wasp just sitting there wiggling his sting at me. I do hope that it wasn't Tony re-incarnated (although wasps were his pet hate) cos he sure got a bang on the head!
As you say - sh.t happens!
Hugs Hon
