Hi Frank,
I take it you mean rituximab aka rituxan ?
I would expect that as the treatment continues, (possibly) some symptoms to
get worse like fatigue and hair loss.
For the prednisone, do you take it with meals and/or milk? If so, and you've
still got upset stomach try eating a few bites then the prednisone, then the
rest of the meal. If that doesn't improve, then perhaps you need to talk to
the doctor about that. Most people get increased appetite from prednisone
which might balance out lack of appetite from the chemos, but if you start
getting gut pains, it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between gastro
upsets (too much acid) and frank ulcers and you don't want stomach
ulcerations.
Maybe others here or Steph have something to add...
Best,
J

Big problem I already have UlCERS and take Previcid twice a day
But the pain from this is diffrent then the ulcer pain.
No real appetite increase but only day one of the PRed so who knows what
tomorrow may bring.
But if this is as bad as it will get then it is not too bad, I am
starting to prepare for the big hair loss, I have trimed my hair down to
a crew cut and shaved my beard down to the skin like a week shadow and
will shave ithe beard off on monday and the hair even closer on next
wednesday, trying to prevent the shock of handfulls of it while
showering or worse a pillow full inthe morning.
Thank You for the Insight .

Frank,
After each of my CHOP & Rituxin chemos, I had flu-like symptoms for a
few days. My chemo was always on a Friday and by Tuesday I would have
sore muscles and my skin was sore to the touch and a low grade fever -
very flu-like to me. It usually passed by the next Friday - so just a
few days. My hair loss came the week before my 2nd round of chemo
(The treatments for me were every 3 weeks). All these side affects
were considered normal by my doctor.
Hope this helps a little. And I really hope you are weathering the
affects ok.

I am doing ok my treatments also every three weeks.
I was expecting the same Hair loss by week two.
Thank You for the response it is good to know
that it is normal effects but as I stated if this is the worse I will
feel then I can do it. Not that I have a choice any who.

My mom had unbearable bone leg pain. The type that you do not want anyone
around to see you. She described them as screwdrivers being driven into her
bones. Usually 2 days were bad, but the first 2 days after treatment she had
more energy and then was sick and down for the count. Her cancer was lung
cancer. She had the other symptoms described here by others too. I read
extensively, I bought 10 books and the most helpful was from the experiences
of others. Food tastes were mentioned and she used plastic utensils at all
times. She carried them with her in her pocketbook and NEVER experienced
that food taste problem. It must be the silver. Try it. Good luck . . . .

Thanks Lily Mae
I will try it who knows it might just do the trick for the BRaaacckk
food.
As for the leg pain mine at the moment is only slight so I hope it stays
that way, I keep waiting for the energy and have yet to feel it other
than the hard to sleep and the wake up at about 6 am after falling
asleep at 1 or 2 but I guess it may take a day or two for the
prednisone to get into my system?
Again thanks for the Plastic Ware Idea I will try it I know any
improvement is a help.

leg pain Frank ?
I'm confused, I can't find a post where you mention leg pain.
I think I've read on the other newsgroup that Pred (steroids) can make a person
not so sleepy at night.
Is there a way to take it earlier in the day (with meals)? Ask your doctors,
because I'm not one.
On the other hand, that might just make you fall asleep earlier and wake up
earlier, so perhaps you're "doomed" to have to have a sleep during the day? Or if
you're needing to be functional for work or other reasons, perhaps there's a
sleep medicine that your doctor could suggest for you?
J - not an expert so usual disclaimer - ask your doctor

Thanks J]
Did not have leg pain until recent like Wednesday night thought it was
muscles aches like the flu sort of.
but the leg pain is at a very minimal only in my calves
I took the PRED at about 7 am today so I will see if that helps any
And my doctor has per scribed Ambien said take one if that don't work
take two, last night I took one same as Wednesday however tonight I
guess I will try two. The pred I was told would throw me off my sleep
and I would be even worse after I stop in five days but only last for a
couple days. Then it would be ok until next treatment when it would
start all over.
Thank You again J
As always your opinion and post are on target I did call my ONC he said
some body aches are normal but they should not be earth shattering or to
the point I can not handle them.

Very common symptoms, Frank.
Haven't you asked the onc or nurses about them?
I don't think there is any reason to expect worse to come.

Yes
I ask the Nurse and My ONC
both said said you can get these symptoms
But was just wondering the extent severity you know
You can tell me body aches are a symptom
But how severe
Flu Like, or real painfully
But like I stated previously if this is the worst then I have felt a
whole lot more discomfort from normal case of flu or cold, other than
the terrible taste it has given to most foods.
Thank You Steph for your time and answers.
