I have a friend living in Minneapolis, Minn who has just received news that
she has inoperable bowel cancer...level four or something like that. I am
uncertain of the terms. Her family is trying to find a holistic cancer
treatment center in that area. Does anyone know of one or of a directory
online I could tap into ro refer to them?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Michael

Hello Michael and welcome to alt.support.cancer
Stage 4 colon cancer is what you mean. Meaning it has spread to other organs.
It's my understanding that holistic means "whole body".
That's what radiation oncologists do, treat what they can without negatively
affecting the whole body too much.
There are side effects with aggressive chemos, no doubt. Some can be controlled
with medications.
There's also palliative (lower) doses of chemo which can help with symptoms.
If she's decided no chemo at all, the other holistic approach, that I know of,
is calling in hospice (palliative care).
They'll be in the yellow pages of her phone book in Minneapolis (or wherever
she decides she wants to end her days).
If she has no symptoms at all right now, perhaps she'd want to investigate
such, set things up for when she does, then take time out to do what she's
always wanted to do, visit relatives, travel or whatever is on her list.
Keep in touch and let us know how you and she are doing.
Best,
J

Inoperable may not mean untreatable, and even when no curative
treatment is know, there's palliative care. You have my sincerest
sympathy.
