Interesting list of names. It looks like its harvested from the newsgroup,
there are quite a lot of munged addresses, but some oddities. For a start,
I'm not in it, nor are a few other regular posters, and Allan is represented
by a hotmail address I don't think he ever posted here. Perhaps it could
have been extracted from the Google archives.
Anyway the advice is as always, don't open any mail with attachments unless
you are expecting it, or there is a plain text message body containing some
personal message that could not have been automatically generated ( as
opposed to some generic comment like "I thought you might like this." or
"Warning, Virus Alert!".) This simple precaution will block the vast
majority of malware. If you want to be completely sure, turn off preview
mode in the browser too. Especially beware of emails purporting to be from
banks or commercial organisations (like eBay) asking for confirmation of
your password etc. These are always fake, no-one would ever ask for your
password by insecure email.

My name is listed too ( obviously ) but at an address that I never have
used, I did notice your name was missing...( a list you are glad you are not
on)! Alex

Oddly, seeing my own address in the list is reassuring.
My addy is there in the munged form I ONLY use to newsgroups.
Thus, of course, I never even got the message with the virus
as it was undeliverable!

Some of those hoaxes can be VERY convincing - they direct you to a
website that looks JUST like the real thing.
It's easy for them to do - they simply lift the HTML code and logos
from the real site.
NEVER click on a 'Reply here' box in e-mail - it's easy for it
to subtly send you to a fake site.
If in doubt, make sure you go to the REAL bank website - look up
their actual URL and type it in yourself.
I got this in my email today {1/19}, and deleted it right away. We are
not as likely to get a virus as most pc users can. We only have "little
black boxes" {aka "set top"} that enable us to access the internet, the
hard drives are at Webtv.
They have locations in Tampa, Fla. and Mountain View Calif. and a couple
others, but I'm not sure where they're located.
I've gotten those before and they get dumped right away without opening
just incase something would go haywire at Webtv.
Thanks for posting this..Take care there dear/God bless
annie
Ultimately.....we know deeply that the other side of every fear is a
freedom.
"Courage"...is *fear* that has said it's prayers.

Does that mean I have this virus or ???

Kaye,
I believe AOL has extensive virus scanning system therefore you will
be ok. This was picked up on my virus software therefore I was ok, I
just wanted to let people know in case they don't have anti virus
software on there PC. Alex

No, it means it may have been sent to you.
It may have been intercepted by AOL or the sending ISP or any firewall
software you may have, or you may have deleted it without opening its
attachment and so defused it. You would only 'get' the virus if you actually
opened the e-mail and its attachment. If you normally delete spam unread
then it is unlikely to get you even if it does get past AOL's filters.

Thanks, I thought so but wanted to make sure.
