Hi, Linda -

Asking Tim questions is one of the best things you can do, Linda - he
and I aren't in competition, honest  ;-)

We're both pretty bright guys with good research skills - but there
are more than a couple of partners here who can help.  Tim spends more
time here than I do.

I am cuter than he is, though  ;-)

After a couple years in remission Deborah's markers have started
rising and we switched last month from Tamoxifen to Arimidex +
Zoladex.  So far she's tolerating things pretty well and Dr. Smiley is
a pretty good doctor.

When we get done with Arimidex the next standard treatment for us is
Xeloda - and I'm not real tickled about that so we're talking about
getting in another clinical trial when it's time for us to move on
from Arimidex.

Deborah's trying to get her lymphedema under control and has
subscribed to UCA's breast cancer discussion list as we get ready to
fight this thing again.

Hope this note finds you healthy and reasonably happy  ;-)

Well, I haven't met you - yet - but you'd have to be *extremely* cute to
better Tim :-)

There are few men I've met who could be cuter and I'm married to him.

We'll let you be the judge.  I'm the one on the right.

Actually I wear a goatee instead of a beard now and my hair's parted
in the middle but the picture isn't that far off.  It is five years
old, though  ;)

One more.  I'm not very photogenic but there are two pictures I use
when people ask for one.  This is possibly the best one anyone's taken
in the last two or three years -

Can someone tell me who this contest is between?  I would like to cast
my vote.  So far Deborah wins hands up between those two guy photos.

Oh, is this contest between Allan and Tim Jackson??? Well in that case
the answer is obvious!  I have seen both photos.<g

That goes without saying :-)

I think you can see Tim on his website, can't remember off-hand what the url
is but it's been mentioned lately.

Gosh! I can't remember Spouse with such a short beard :-(

Oh - I remember, it was a few weeks after he shaved his face right back to
the skin. Awful!

I like a man to display his secondary sex characteristic (like Tim, Allan
and mine)

Is Allan the man called Malcolm who is in the photo with you?  I don't
see a photo of you, Allan and Mary together.   Who is this Malcolm
gentleman?  I don't think he posts here.  Just curious.

Malcolm is my husband, on newsgroups usually referred to as Spouse.

He doesn't post here but will soon be lurking I suspect. We do most things
together and we went together to meet Mazza and her husband Steve and then
Tim and his lovely daughter Natasha.

Tim and I have never met Allan - yet :-) Be sure that if/when we do there'll
be pictures all over the site!

Thanks for the additional info, Mary.  Now the photos make more sense to
me.

Ah, but I *have* met Allan (though not Tim), and I assure you that in
person <looks warily around for Deborah, wondering if she is the jealous
type> he is every bit as cute as he's assured us he is <g>, and entirely
as charming as he seems in his posts here.

Out of fairness, though, I also have to hold back from the crucial
"Who's cuter:  Allan or Tim?" question, not having met Tim.

Wait a minute . . . they've never been seen in the same room!  Do you
suppose . . . ?

I know. some folk are too good to be true ...

To you, Allan. To me, Tim.

I doubt it. Except virtually.

If they were and we were there we'd be riven ... I'm glad I have the excuse
of fidelity to Spouse :-)

I didn't know you played guitar--that's great!  How are you doing otherwise...
Have you heard from Catharine?

Excuse my listening to this "private" thread.  ;-)

I got a brief e-mail from Catharine a week ago.  Things move on - she now
has a mailing address on the big island but still no private phone or
Internet.  She didn't mention medical issues. If she managed to get into
Hilo to email then she must still be upright.

Thanks for the update--wasn't private at all--did know that Allan had
corresponded with her from time-to-time.  I hope all is going well with her.

Looks like it changed from a private thread (can you even have one of
those on Usenet?) to an unintended beauty contest  ;-)

Glad you heard from Catharine - I dropped her a oneliner just after
Christmas but I imagine she's been busy.

Doesn't have enough strings to be a guitar  ;-)

I've played electric bass off and on since I was 15.  That's more
years than I care to count today - but I can still show the young
whippersnappers a thing or two  ;-)

I'm doing well.  Irritable as hell, but haven't had a cigarette in
more than two months and started Atkins two weeks ago tomorrow and
have lost damn near ten pounds already.  Life is good.

WOW!!! Congratulations--didn't want to ask, knowing the stress that you have
been under recently--but am very impressed!!!

Yes, you certainly look younger than the one I have of you (beggars' banquet
I think) in my 'Friends' folder. Tim's in there too.

If I can work how to do it I'll send a pic of my cutie :-)
