my wife recently had her blood work done and her liver
enzymes are up as well as her triglycerides. we've found
a very strong link (online) between tamoxifen and a
thing called Fatty Liver or NASH (non alcohol induced
steatohepatitis.

our doctor has suggested this along with other less
happy scenarios but i'm wondering if anyone else has
gone down this road?

Hi Erik, my liver enzymes are up and my ct scan report shows a fatty
liver. I would love to hear more about it, if anyone knows. I confess
that I have not followed up on it because no one seemed to care and I
cannot point to any symptoms from it. The only change for me is that I
get my Zoladex shot monthly instead of the three month dose.

Thanks,
Chris

Intersting. Evidently this is not so uncommon with those
taking tamoxifen (my wife is now on femara). Evidently
estrogen supression can lead to Fatty Liver. The more
dangerous NASH (non alcoholic steatohepatitis) can lead
to liver problems so it's good they caught it with you
and that you're dealing with it.

Fatty liver itself isn't such a big deal.  Is your
cholesterol up? Do you take anything specifically for
high cholesterol?

Thanks for the info!

I have not had my cholesterol checked. Sounds like I should!

The high triglycerides my wife has may be a side-effect
of the tamoxifen...but maybe a cholesterol check next
time your in for a blood test, could hurt.
