Hello List Members,

I have a friend who is Stage IV (bones) and her meds aren't sufficient
(including the patch) for the pain she's experiencing. She'd like to know if
anyone here has tried or used the cannabis pills for pain palliation.  If so,
could they be taken WITH her meds, at what kind(s) of dosages, and did it help?
--- She's aiming for her doctor to prescribe (it's legal here in Calif.
apparently) and has reached desperation point.

I told her I'd ask.

Any help you can provide would be gratefully appreciated, either here or
offline.

Thank you.

I was prescribed Marinol 5mg for nausea and it did help.  In fact, it was
the only drug that helped but I didn't take it very often because I didn't
like the way it made me feel. At the time I was also having pain and it
really did nothing for the pain.

I thought Marijuana was used to combat nausea and as an appetite stimulant for
chemotherapy patients rather than a pain medication.

I did try it for migraines with no results.

Thanks..for your comments. Finding research about how or if cannabis interacts
with pain killing drugs either doesn't exist, or hasn't been released as
research papers. (Or maybe I just haven't hit the right resources yet. )

It apparently does work for nausea and appetite stimulation. However what
little information I've found  indicates it works for pain, as well. (I'm sorry
it didn't help your migrain pain.) -- Smoking it is allegedly good for short
term relief, whereas ingestion in the form of tea, etc. apparently works
longer.

I'm still looking.....

thanks
