I posted here during 2001 when my mom was receiving treatment for her
stage III breast cancer. She's done well and been NED until this
point. Unfortunately her last chest x-ray showed 'diffuse densities"
in her left lung (same side as BC). She has a CT scan tomorrow. We
realize this may be mets, new primary cancer (she smoked for over 30
years) or something else entirely or absolutely nothing at all. Her
onc isn't panicking but my mom sure is. She's scared to death.I'm
being cautiously optimistic but won't exactly be stunned if this is
the BC back. Her original tumor was 6x7cm for goodness sake.

I do hope your mom's scan turns out OK, and that she can put her anxieties
aside.

A 7cm cancer does put her in a high risk category for recurrence, but a more
significant indicator is the number of lymph nodes that were found to be
involved at the time of her primary surgery.

Unfortunately, Tim, that is info that we don't have. She had the
adjuvant chemotherapy. AC before her surgery. All her nodes (18) came
back negative but that was expected after 6 weeks of chemo.
It is assumed due to the size of her tumor and one enlarged node upon
initial exam by the surgeon that there must have been some involved
nodes but we'll never know to what extent the involvement may have
been.

CT scan is today. We'll hopefully have news by early next week.

Dodged this bullet. My mom's CT scan came back negative with no
evidence of metastatic disease.
My best to all!!

Karen, so glad to hear that you Mom's CT scan came back with negative
results. I bet it was a great relief for you and your Mom?

Take care,
