hello everyone
linda bliss here
been feeling rather yucky lately thats why no postings..but feeling
pretty good today so here goes
orig dx: invasive ductal carcinoma left breast oct 99. lumpectomy oct
99, clear margins, stage 2, 2.9 cm, grade 3, er and PR+ HER2-. axill
node dissection 29 removed 2+, 4 cycles A/C plus 33 rads
ok so all treatment ended in may 2000 and my hair grew back and i go
every 3 months to onc for blood work and ALL was great til july this
year 2003. tumor markers were elevated to 100 ca 27-29.
had pet scan and it showed multiple lesions on my chest wall and a
small mass on adrenal gland above the kidney.
Onc started me aug 20th on Arimidex. so i have now been on this drug
for 3 months and my lastest cat scan shows that the lesions have
shrunk and that all is stabilized.
i am not jumping for joy yet but i am much happier now than i was in
august
to be told you have mets from bc scared the heck out of me
well i dug deep and found that positive attitude again and support
groups like this help too and you guys are just so wonderful
i have the yucky side effects from the Arimidex but i am doing my best
to deal with the gas pains, joint pains and lack of appetite.
saw onc today and he set me up for another pet scan and told me i look
good..geez if i only felt 100%. he also asked if i wanted to change to
Femura.?
what do you think???
i think i am on the road again to beating this beast
wishing you all good health
see you soon
love linda bliss

I guess it just depends -how- yucky.
Sounds like you have worse-than-average side effects, so why not try
switching and seeing if Femara is better or worse?
You can always switch back.

Hi Linda...I'm new around here but not new to BC -- but mostly lurk. I'm on
Arimidex and I'm just curious. After you finished your treatment in 99, didn't
your doc put you on any hormone therapy? Tamoxifen?
I'm just surprised, because it seems almost standard. Just curious.
Take care,

Hi Linda--just had a thought. If you are having difficulty with effects from
the Arimidex, I am wondering if you might have less effects if you took it at
bedtime instead of in the morning??? Just a thought. I take it at bedtime and
have no problem with it. I was beginning to get some stiffness in my knees but
Celebrex helped with that...

Hi Linda,
I'm glad you are getting some good news and hope that whatever med route you
choose, you begin to feel better soon. I don't know a thing about Femura
versus Arimidex. I would think your onc could give you best info. Wishing
you the best.

HHi Linda, glad to hear that things are looking better! Sorry to hear of all
the side effects, though. I am not sure about differences in side effects
between Arimidex and Femara, though. Tim had a good suggestion---if Arimidex
is causing all this, you might try switching to see if there is any change...
