I have a textured anatomical (pretty small!) implant. Why does it have a
valve? I saw it in the office and OR to my recollection it was just an avoid
sleeve with fluid inside. Yet now that it's part of my body it has a hard
circular valve-like thing. I can't find a picture on the manufacturer's site
(or it takes too long). And yes, my surgeon felt it. Before I do the nipple
thing (or if I do it) I wanted to ask about this. thanks for any info. I
didn't realize permanent implants had valves (the expander did, obviously).

If I've been wordy and not at all helpful, I apologize.
Dr. Becker is a practicing plastic surgeon, and has a web page also, in case
you're interested.
If you discover another explanation for the valve that is in your permanent
implant, I'd love to know about it. Please post to share, if you would.
Best wishes to you as you continue the stages of your reconstruction.

It's Spectrum now, not Becker, and the valve is over the ribs, I had one.
but this is a permanent implant, and it has a valve. apparently lots of them
do but most people can't feel theirs. guess I'm just lucky. ;-0 oh well.
thanks for trying. it does surprise me to think there would be anyone who
would have these types of procedures and not know about each stage, but
maybe there are such people posting on here, I don't read this board.
anyway, thanks again

I have the saline implant. I have the port thingy in me now and the surgeon
has it filled to the max. I go back in January and he'll release some of
the fluid and hopefully I will not require the other surgery to remove this
and put other one in. I just want this to feel more natural but I know I am
not finished yet.

My "permanent expander" turned out not to be permanent....the surgeon didn't
listen during our consultations, I asked for three things and he refuted all
three and then had to admit I was right.....the original Spectrum was too
high, too big, wrong shape.....and smooth not textured. so....had another
surgery, got hematoma, had third surgery, and on we go......life, the big
adventure. it's all improv.

I have the same it's the expander and it does have the valve and the port so
the doctor can fill or let out saline. It I try to feel the tube I can
feeling but it's better than having nothing there. I do believe if this
turns out okay I can leave this in or get the permanent silicone one. If I
can avoid being cut again I will.
