Tell the FDA to Enforce Silicone Breast Implant Recommendations

The New York Times recently reported that plastic surgeons are
challenging FDA recommendations to conduct biannual MRIs on women
receiving silicone breast implants, with some surgeons saying they
will not follow the guidelines. MRIs are important for follow-up
because it is the only way doctors can tell if a silicone implant has
ruptured. Contact the FDA and tell them that these recommendations
must be enforced in order to protect women's health. Send an email or
a letter to CDRH/FDA, 1350 Piccard Drive, HFZ-210, Rockville, MD
20850. You can also call the FDA at 1-800-638-2041. Please let us know
if you have taken action.

Sample text/script:

   To Whom It May Concern:

The FDA should enforce the recommendations that were established
when silicone breast implants were approved in November of 2006. The
recommendations require physicians to let patients know that they will
need biannual MRIs to detect ruptures. This follow-up is very
important because ruptures in silicone implants could go unnoticed
without an MRI. Please help protect the health of women who receive
silicone implants by enforcing these recommendations.

   Sincerely,

Coleah ... he was talking to me ... even though you have tried to
highjack my name and google bomb with yours and Barrett's losers
interpretation of my life ... you are not Ilena Rosenthal ... you are
my nemesis ... and spend your life attacking and stalking me. You push
your massive weight into everything concerning me ... you highjack
posts, you stalk me, you even lie about implants and suicide. You are
Coleah Penley Ayers .... pathological liar and business partner to
Eurosilicone head, Patrick O'leary as well as publicist for loser,
Steve Barrett. Have you lost any and all perspective about your own
twsited identity???

Response to Tim:

I fully believe that the topic of breast implants are very relevant to
breast cancer patients ... in most cases ... they are presented as a
viable if not preferred option.

I have made friends with others who read this group and appreciate my
postings ...

It is my experience that the women most harmed by breast implants are
post mastectomy ... their bodies are least able to handle the
additional surgeries and toxic loads in their bodies.

Thanks for your note ...

This may well be true, but it has its own newsgroup. It is for the
readers to decide whether or not they want to subscribe to both topics.

It is a basic principle that one group's topic does not contain
another's.  That argument is fundamentally a takeover bid.

You can believe what you wish but as someone who has had breast cancer I for
one have no interest whatsoever in breast implants.

Could you please note what Tim says and rein back.  We don't flood the
breast implant newsgroup with emails about breast cancer and it would be
polite for you to reciprocate.

Regards

Maria .. I'm happy to post less on this board.

Since I began alt.support.breast-implant in November, 1995, the
silicone industry has had their flacks embedded there. I am no
industry flack ... and am sorry you find my posts unwelcome.

I am a sincere advocate and appreciate the kind notes I receive from
women in this group ... including some who have chosen to forgo
implantation after reading my postings.
