I recently sent this message to the cancer support ng , by mistake, but the
content remains valid...
I was shocked to log on to this group for the first time in a while, to find
a load of abuse and rubbish...not the love and support I found when I first
subscribed..having been diagnosed with cancer and being terrified...I found
common sense and down to earth advice, which took away the panic I felt...I
will look in a few times and if it is the same I will un-subscribe....
thank you all for the kindness you have shown, I will never forget ...and
hope to God that I never have the need to seek comfort here again, I fear it
would be un forth-coming

You will find the support is still here Pam. What is happening is a
number of cross-posts by one or two posters to this and other groups,
which means that replies in other groups, which have very different
agendas and attitudes from ours, are also visible here.
If you find these posts offensive or upsetting, just ignore the threads
from that poster. Their relevance to our topic is tangential at best,
so you won't miss much.

And I do admit that your post prompted me to go back and clean up on the
unanswered recent questions.

I am really sorry the newsgroup has changed so as to cause such a reaction.
I had not noticed a change, largely because of the way I deal with noxious
posts. I belong to another group that had been pretty much ruined by a
single person posting vitriolic rants with very personal attacks on other
members and by those responding to her posts. She cross-posts on many ngs,
so there is always a supply of people who cannot ignore her. I simply set
the block sender feature to eliminate poss from her and her respondents.
The visible number of posts decreases rapidly, so that after only a few
weeks, I see very littld of it.
I have been doing that here, as well. Not out of a sense that there is an
enormous amount of such stuff, but rather as a continuation of the habit
begun elsewhere.
We would certainly welcome you back if you can find a way to avoid the
offensive posts.

Hi Sandy,
Could you tell me how to block someone's newsgroup messages?
Thanks.

If you're using Microsoft Outlook Express I can tell you. Let me know if
that's you're browser and I will explain it. It's definitely nice to know now
that there have been a lot more cross-posters here.

Click on Message, then Block sender. It will ask if you want to remove all
message from that sender; I usually answer yes. I think if it is an
unopened thread, it deletes all messages in that thread, but if you click on
the + sign and expand the listing for the thread, you can block and delete
only the original sender (or any sender within the thread).
