Hi every one,
I was part of this group since few years...my mother was diagnosed
with BC,and now I am here seeking your help again...I hope you all
will guide me like you did before :)
Two months ago there was moderate amount of bleeding starts from right
side breast,Drs found one lump and they removed it,and then they did
biopsy found out that it was malignant,I dont know yet that which kind
and what stage of cancer it is...now she doesnt have insurence and she
is not able to get one...she lives in houston TX.
What to do?
How is Tim doing?
TC,
Thanks in advance,
Saima

Tim's doing fine thanks Saima.  How is life with you these days?

Being British I can't address your US insurance issues, but I'm sure our
American contributors will have suggestions.

Saima, I do not know if you are speaking about your mother or a
"friend".  However, being diagnosed with cancer and not having insurance
can be a dilemna in the US.  There "must" be help out there but
unfortunately from what I know the only thing available for people in
her situation who are not on Medicare  would be to apply for "Medicaid".
It is a program for people with limited income and resources.  The
income limits vary from state to state so she would have to call her
local Medicaid office to see if she qualifies.  You can get the phone
number for your local Medicaid office by calling Medicare at
800-633-4227.  Unlike Medicare, one does not have to be 65 to get on the
program.

Another idea would be to call your local American Cancer Association and
ask them if they can direct you to any insurance help for this person.

What you are encountering with your "friend" or mother is something our
great country needs to address and find a solution to.  Until they do,
you can help her by making as many phone calls as you can until you get
the medical help she needs, in my opinion.

Best of luck to you both,

Bea
