I finished chemo 4 weeks ago having had FEC x 3 and Taxotere x 3.  I had
more side effects with the Taxotere especially watery eyes, nail
discolouration, fluid retention.  I still have watery eyes after 4 weeks now
and wondered how long this will persist for.

Hi Mary,

The taxotere is a tough one!  My watery eyes went away rather soon - within
about 3 weeks I'd guess but I'm still having problems with swelling and some
numbness in my fingertips.  I have accordion nails and they are about 1/2 of
the way grown out.  I had 4 AC and 4 taxotere and my last one was on June
22nd.

I took 2 rounds of taxotere and had to stop.  I had such bad bone and joint
pain.

I had two rounds of taxotere too and had to stop as well. Neuropathy so bad
I could barely walk. Still 1.5 years later have less painful bouts of
neuropathy!

I am still 2 weeks from the last dose and still feel awful.  I refused to go
back for more.  The doctor felt I had enough with 4 CAV and 2 of Taxotere.
My one blood test was a 26 with normal  so it wasn't over the 38.

I was on Taxotere for 4 mos.  It was the most difficult chemo I've had
with a myriad of side effects.  I stopped early due to the fluid
retention. That was resolved with a diuretic after a few weeks.
However, the watery eyes are more troublesome.   It took a year for it
to slow down. (not stop mind you).  By then I started Xeloda which
aggravated it again.  My eyes now drip constantly.   I have been
dealing with that for 3 1/2 yrs.   My nail, eyelashes and eyebrows have
never recovered either.  It also caused permanent fibrotic lymphedema.
I have been off Taxotere for 3 yrs.  Sorry the news isn't better.

Cathy,
I had such bad swollen feet over the weekend.  I couldn't even wear my
sandals.  They appear okay today but still have that ache.  The bone and
joint pain was the worst for me.  I first 4 chemo was CAV which the "A"  I
lost my hair.

Hi Mary

I finished the same treatment in February and I'd say I felt 'normal'
again around June. My nails in particular took at long time to get back
their strength. You'll get there!
