Scar tissue showing up on mammogram?

Hello,

i had a lumpectomy 11/05 and had a follow up mammogram done last week at
a closer hospital.

The radiologist said (and i saw) something was showing up on the film.
They took many views.  He is not sure if it's a new finding or scar
tissue and no one yet can find my films to compare!

Would scar tissue show up this fast?  Any info would be appreciated.
i've made my mind up not to worry but i am concerned.

Thanks for any replies,
cal (female)

Hi, Cal,

Welcome!

It seems like scar tissue could happen that soon . . . it certainly
*feels* like there's scar tissue that soon.  Also, don't forget that you
can have the same kinds of non-malignant things that anyone else does,
that would show up on a mammogram, look suspicious, but still not be cancer.

After you have BC, the docs are always quick to do aaaalllllll the
tests, so I wouldn't read too much into the radiologist doing multiple
views.

I had bilateral mastectomies, and have had more than one needle biopsy
since because my doctor wasn't 100% totally positive whether various
peculiar lumps were something scary, or just scar tissue.  So far, just
scar tissue (after 5+ years of poking and prodding, since I don't have
anything to do a mammogram on).

IIRC, the first of those needle biopsies happened roughly the same
amount of time after my surgery as you're at now.

Let us know how things turn out, OK?

Take care,

Ann T.

Hey Cal,

Yes, it is normal after this short period of time. I had a similar
experience, in my non breast cancer - breast which I had a reduction.  They
referred me back to the surgeon who said it was perfectly normal ( at least
for me). Alex
