hi
I live on the south bank of the humber and have treatment on the north
bank, to cross the bridge it is ?2:50 each way, which is not too bad at the
moment as I'm only going every three weeks for chemo..then there's ?2:00 or
?4:00 (depending on how long we have to be there, waiting) car parking.  This
will be a real problem in July when I have to go every day for
radio-therapy...At the very least it will be ?35;00 a week.. for 4
weeks...Bearing in mind that I will have dropped to half-pay by then.....I
think we can get a months ticket for the car park...but I went to a friends
today and she and her husband are with  a local breast support group,   To
cut a long story short it appears they will pay towards the fees, I just
have to get my breast care nurse to fill in a form and they will send the
money...This will be a weight off my mind, As you can imagine.... Amazing
what you find out by accident.. we only went to pick something up for my
son.. would have struggled on other-wise.

When I went for treatment at the Yorkshire Cancer Centre (Cookridge) I had a
waiver for parking fees, it was given on production of my appointment letter
to the receptionist.

I don't think you'll have to go every day for four weeks though ... :-)

I'm glad you discovered this but I think you'd have been told by the staff.

weeks....could be wrong    Still not every day, but I worked the costs out
based on 5 days...  Any-way whatever I can claim will certainly be a
help...I don't think the Princess Royal hospital waives any fees for parking
cos all the cars will be folks with appointments...but the months ticket is
only ?6

No, I said people having *treatment*. It doesn't apply to clinic visits for
assessments or advice or to visitors. Radiotherapy is treatment.

There might not be such a scheme in opeation but it's worth asking about.
