im a female, 23 years old with hormonal issues and sensitive breast
issues from that. i have polycystic ovarian syndrome, which results in
imbalanced hormones and ive been on the pill to regulate that and my
period since 1997, so, who knows if maybe this is making it worse.

i also have an undiagnosed connective tissue related auto-immune
disease similar to Lupus, but not Lupus.
so, i tend to get very oddly, sore, achey areas on bizaare, random
places on my body.

but ive been having a problem where (for the past 2 years or so) every
now and then on the side of my left breast, under the underarm, where
it gets sore, and feels possibly like a sore gland or something like
that. ive felt around the area and dont really feel anything there.
some fibery like breast tissue, but thats always there... so there
seems to be nothing like a lump or anything or thickening.
sometimes when this happens.. the pain shoots up to the inside of my
upper arm like where the arm begins after the armpit. it isnt anything
severe, but sometimes i feel a similar, but more mild version of it in
the same area on the side of my right breast/inside arm. so, its on
both breasts.
also around this area.. the upper arm, like where the upper muscle will
feel achey.

if this, was by any chance a type of cancer... or glandular cancer..
would it be happening exactly in the same spot on the other breast like
that?
the right area didnt really start like that till recently.

it just feels like a mildy sore muscle, like from sleeping the wrong
way in the bed or something, but it isnt exactly an area of such a
problem.

i also get the same achey thing in the middle upper area of the
breast... (nothing found there from my own exam)
i dont think this would be necessarily a shooting pain from the other
area. they seem fairly separate.

this breast.. the left one.. is much larger than my right one and has
always been since i started growing breasts. it runs in my family.
so, ive been told to always look out for any problems with it, but its
also more dense thn the right one, and its hard to find stuff in it.
i had an exam by the gyno doctor and he just felt some fibery stuff,
and otherwise seemed normal. but, havent had any mammogram done, and it
most likely will be a problem since im so young and the tissues are
rather dense.

right now im kind of in limbo with the insurance and while waiting, i
am a little nervous and worried in the meantime.

i just was curious if anyone thinks this could be cancer or something
other than just my weird hormonal, tissue issues.

with this happening on both sides.. right and left breast (or more so,
side of the breast and more so on the left breast and rarely the right,
but it does happen), could this be more of a chance of it NOT being
something serious?  when this happens, i do usually feel acheyness in a
few areas in both breasts. seems to be worse after my period
sometimes... but depends. usually happens at any point in my cycle.

its right where the side of the breast meets the underarm.

I doubt that this is cancer, it's unusual to have pain in breast cancer.

Surely you've been examined by a doctor?

Probably not.
- Cancer is very rare in your age group.
- Most but not all (breast) cancers, especially the slower growing
types, are painless.
- Getting cancers in both breasts simultaneously is pretty rare.
- Cancers generally do not vary with the menstrual cycle.
- Cancers generally progress remorselessly over years, they may pause
briefly or get worse.  They don't often get better, or remain static for
years.

On the whole this sounds much more like an immune sort of problem.
