Having had 6 chemo sessions & 22 radiation treatments for thyroid nhl I had
a terrible time with dry skin across my face, back of the ears, neck & upper
chest areas. After trying umpteen creams etc, I found one that completely
relieved the problem. I hope this contribution helps, if only one person,
give Clotrimazole & Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream a try....it's
prescription

LOL! I'm very pleased that you found a salve - but how did you remember the
name, much less pronounce it?!

Clotrimazole cream here is what one uses for yeast infections!

!

I've never seen an infection in my yeast ... :-)

I can pronounce it because I was a chemist once and have worked in a
pharmacy but I doubt that many in UK at least could.

Clotrimazole is an anti-fungal.  If there is not fungal infection, it might
be better to use just a corticosteroid cream.
Betamethasone is a corticosteroid--a cortisone-like drug.  If you are using
it on large areas, yous should be aware that there is a small risk of
aseptic necrosis of the head of the thigh bone, necessitating a hip
replacement.
For xeroderma, a hereditary condition with dry lizard-like skin, the usual
recommendation is Vaseline.  It's kind of nasty to put on, but it lasts well
through the day.  Ammonium lactate cream, also a prescription item, also
works well, is esthetically more pleasing, but costs more.

Amlactin 12% is also a very good lotion for irritated, dry skin.  It can
only be purchased at a pharmacy and they keep it back where the prescription
medications are stored.
It does NOT require a prescription, however. You just need to ask for it.
I discovered it for my spouse.  He had Alzheimer disease and late ocurring
diabetes.
He would itch his skin until it would bleed, but this lotion made all the
difference.  I was able to keep his skin in good condition with it.
Anyone having problems might try a small bottle first to see if it worked
for them.  It is a bit costly.  More than ordinary lotions you might
purchase.  I paid $11.68 for 8 oz.
