Hi all,
I have searched the web for this information but came up without anything.
I'm thinking this is the most likely bunch of people who would know.
I work for a breast cancer program. I have a client who had a biopsy in
2003 at which time they inserted a metal clip as a marker.
When she had a followup mammogram in 2004, it was a diagnostic mammogram
and her insurance wouldn't pay for it because of htat. (This is annoying in
itself, but not the point.) When she asked the hospital radiologist whether
she could have a screening mammogram next time, he said she could never
have a screening mammogram again because of the metal clip.
Can anyone else verify this? I have a clip myself, but haven't had a
screening mammogram yet since it is still close to the time of the biopsy.
Maybe the radiologist meant that he personally would always order an
additional view because of the position of the clip?
Thanks,
Amanda

I had one too, but since showed small calcifications was cancer they took it
out when had the surgery. But I remember at time he put it in he said that
whenever I had another mammogram that would show up so they would know it
had already been biopsed and not do it again, so sounds to me like they
would x-ray again.
