Hello,
I am a prostate cancer survivor.......My sister-in-law was recently
diagnosed with breast cancer and I gave her the name of this group. It may
be too early for her to look for advice and such, but I was looking for some
information I can give her to help her through this ordeal.
Thank You so much. John Loomis

She'd be most welcome here (though we're always sorry when someone has
need to join us)! And you're welcome, too: If you want to post
questions related to things you know she's worried about, or her
family's worried about, that's just fine, too. This is also a good
place for people just to vent about fears & frustrations, too -- we've
all been there.

Hi John, since there's no "group" reply yet.
I use http://www.imaginis.com/ a lot.
and http://www.cancersupporters.com/
If you click on the alt.support.cancer.breast and go into the FAQ section,
there's books listed there, including one by Dr. Susan Love. I really recommend
that she read them. Breast cancers vary. Surgeries vary. Treatments vary. The
sequence of (surgeries, hormone therapy or chemo, or radiation therapy,
reconstruction, if applicable, vary). Some are simple surgeries (lumpectomy and
nothing more). Some are much more complex.
Thank you for helping your sister-in-law,
Best wishes,
J

Our FAQ is at www.cancersupporters.com, which as well as brief
information on various aspects of the subject, includes a list of useful
links to other resources.

In December of '98 I noticed a lump in my right breast. In April '99 it was
still there and was confirmed by a mammogram. By August '99 there were two
lumps and the doctor wanted to do exploratory surgery. I had heard about
noni juice and decided to try it instead. In September '99 I began drinking
noni juice. By October '99, both lumps were gone! After two years, my
regular checkups and doctor visits have revealed no lumps!

I'm sure that the writer does not have any financial interest in selling
this product, and is not intending to suggest that the drink is a cure
for cancer, as one might be tempted to think, posting such a testimonial
in a cancer newsgroup.
However it has in the past been advertised apparently for use as a drug
despite lacking any sort of approval by regulatory bodies.

I am aware that Quackwatch is controversial, but I refer the reader to
the references to the FDA website at the end of the article, which list
warning letters issued to vendors on the subject.

sorry tim-
i've seen this posters "writing" in other groups.
IMHO she is definitely pushing noni.
if not, she is the most unfortunate and confused person on earth - she
claims to have heart disease and at least 4 different kinds of cancer.
miraculously, all of these conditions have been "cured" with noni juice.
she also stated that she is 19 years old in another group, but in this group
claims she has been jogging for 25 years. that must have been diffiicult to
deal with for her mother - a 6 year pregnancy with a jogging fetus. hmmmm.
if i knew how, i would report her for abuse.

Well, probably, but far be it from me to accuse anyone without
researching the facts.

Understand that he she or it is actually posting testimonials by other
people - the by-line varies while the 'from' name remains the same.
There is no comment or other text from the actual poster.

You could try an email to abuse@aliant.net, that is the complaints
address in the message headers. You can find this and other information
by using the "Properties" item in the "File" menu of Outlook Express to
view the message headers.
