Hello, my mother has found a small breast cancer two years ago. She had
mastectomy and she was told it was discovered at an early stage because
its stage was t1bn0m0. She had to have a chemo treatment anyway. After
5/6 month there has been a local recurrence, she had another chemo and a
radiation therapy. Unfortunately now she has another local recurrence
and she is very doubt full to have another chemo treatment as her
oncologist suggested. She is worried by the fact all recurrences appear
in a so short time, 3/5 month max, after she has finished treatments
that seem to have no effect.
Is it common to have so many recurrences in a so short time after all
these treatments?
Thank you to all.

No, it's not common. Less so after mastectomy than lumpectomy, and
twice even less so. It might be interesting to get a second opinion
from another breast surgeon on this.

Thank you for your reply Tim, to be exact she had first lumpectomy, the
biopsy showed there were extremely small nodules on the cut line so
two weeks later she had mastectomy.
Before this last recurrence she went to another oncologist and he
confirmed all the treatments she had done, but on the specific topic of
these recurrences all the doctors she met are almost perplex. And it is
not a nice feeling.
