hi all -thanks so much for all the info.
i got the thyroid screen tests back and all are in normal range.
so i'm left with an enlarged thyroid that's acting normally apparently.
they (obgyn found it) said that normally they would want to do an untrasound
on it - could be a nodule.
gotta talk to onc about it tomorrow.
i guess i'm worried now that the cancer has invaded the thyroid.  does this
even happen?
i still am having problems with low energy, being cold even in a warm room
or whatever, dry skin, water retention etc.  i've also developed a sinus
infection( i think) and have been running mild fever on and off.
the pain level in my bones has increased steadily over the last week or two
(in all the known bone met sites).  i'm thinking the zoladex may have worn
off earlier than the 3 months it's supposed to last and that my estrogen is
back feeding all this stuff.
gotta admit, i'm a little worried.
i go see onc tomorrow and have scans this week.
just thought i'd ask if anyone experienced any of this and if so, how did it
turn out?
thanks again all.
i hope this finds you feeling well and enjoying your day.
:)

I suppose someone, somewhere, sometime has experienced mets to the thyroid,
but it would certainly be unusual.

No, (I'm pretty sure) it would be mentioned here if it did
http://www.endocrineweb.com/thyroidca.html
There was however, someone here last year whose mother had breast and thyroid
cancer.

(haven't heard back since)

The two are treated differently.

I wonder if one of the meds affects your estogens, if a person can get the
equivalent of postpartum thyroiditis?
Perhaps something to ask, the onc or an endocrinologist...

You also haven't posted your TSH values. Some doctors have quite a wide "normal
range"

thanks j-
i did not get the actual numbers yet.  i just called and they told me on the
phone that they were all in normal range.
i will get the numbers in a few days i think.
went to onc today - he's going to do ultrasound as well as all my regular
scans next monday, so i'll know more in a couple of weeks.
thanks for the info.

Please go to news:alt.support.thyroid as the "normal" ranges are not so
normal.

True normal TSH is 0,8 to 1,5.
And FT4 and FT3 are suppooseed to be well in the upper half.

Liz & Martin Walton - 10 Nov 2004 01:45 GMT
Hi Christinna,
I have had exactly the same symptoms as yourself. My thyroid screen tests
also appear to be in the normal range. My doctor did an ultrasound and there
are several nodules and cysts in my thyroid. He sent me to the
endocrinologist and he is going to do an needle biopsy. I am on blood
thinners at the moment because of a blood clot caused by my chemo picc line.
Consequently the endo does not want to do the biopsy until I am off the
blood thinners. He says that he is not overly concerned but wants to make
sure!. I will be having the biopsy in January. Hope all goes well for you.
Let me know what happens.
Liz Walton.

thanks liz.
i'll be curious to see how yours turns out.  i will definitely post when i
get more info.  ya know it's a mightly slow train sometimes...
my onc also does not seem overly concerned.  but we'll do the ultrasound
just to get a better look on  monday along with all the other miserable
scans (full bone and ct scans... blechhh).
he seems more concerned (as am i ) about the increase in pain i've been
having in all the various bone met sites.  we'll see what the tumor markers
show in a few days.
in the meantime, i'm just letting it all go.
i spent the past week worrying about it.  now the onc knows what's going on
and the scans are scheduled.  beyond that, there is nothing more i can do.
i'm just going to pay attention to other things in my life in the meantime.
tonight i'm going to watch a movie in bed under my nice comforter and be
warm  :) .  had treatment today and i feel kinda crappy.
thanks liz for the info.  i'm fairly puzzled by this thyroid thing.
i will look for your posts.
have a good night-
:)
