I just found that I have lump and have to go for test to find out if it is
cancer. Can anyone tell me how to deal with the uncertained and the
anxiety that goes with it. My Dr prescribed Atavin but I am reluntant to
take it. My mother, who died for breat cancer, had a very bad reaction to
it. Any words of advice would be appreciated

Have the test. Don't be frightened. The lump is likely to be benign (non
cancerous) but if it isn't you've done the right thing in having it
diagnosed.
That's when the treatment can begin.
Doing nothing is not an option.

find out if it is cancer, chances are it is not.
If you are afraid of ativan try taking half a pill to take to edge off,let
us know how you make out. Alex

first of all, getting it checked and knowing you're doing something about
it should help with the anxiety some. also, the vast majority of lumps turn
out to be benign.
re ativan - what sort of bad reaction did she have? ie allergic?
did you ask your doc about your mom's reaction to ativan when it was
prescribed to you? if not, give a call and discuss it with him/her.
it does help you deal with the anxiety, but should only be taken for a very
short while, generally.
good luck and keep us posted.
