Maya Angelou and my friend Barbara's Breast Cancer / Implant Experiences

I received this lovely piece from a wonderful woman I met in my
travels.

She had received her implants in the army a couple of decades ago ...
what she had asked for was a breast reduction ... what she got was a
reduction PLUS implants ... she did not know until she became ill
around a decade later.

She had them removed ... and works hard to get her health back ... we
spent many fine mornings walking miles together.

She recently was diagnosed with breast cancer in the breast where she
had a rupture ...

Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah (on her show) for Dr. Angelou's
74th birthday.

Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.

And, there on television, she said it was "exciting." Regarding body
changes, she said there were many, occurring every day... like her
breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist
first, she said. The audience laughed so hard they cried.

Dr. Angelou also said: "I've learned that no matter what happens, or
how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better
tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she
handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled
Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents,
you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a
"life."

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt
on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I
usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone.
People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget
what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Oh brother.....anyone can follow the archives and
see who waged war on whom.

In my case, it's obvious who 'waged War' on whom.
I actually laughed when I got the email telling me that
you had put up a sh.t-list webpage about me.  I
thought it was a joke.

Remember me?.....the one in the newsgroup
they called the 'Peace Maker' for years and years?

Now you mockingly say 'War is Hell'?
Heck, is that an invitation that I should move from
'Parade Rest' and demonstrate?

I really don't care who waged where against whom and where,
but kindly get your tanks off my lawn!

Please don't bring your battles to alt.support.cancer.breast.  I am sure
everyone here would agree that is unacceptable behaviour.

I will post stories that relate to breast cancer and breast implants
... I have no control over the Quack Team that Nidiffer works for.

If you don't want to read my posts ... don't.

I have met several women over the years from this board who eventually
joined my group ... as I've said before.

I am happy for you to post relevant articles, but in view of the fact that
you have a regular and sometimes hostile following, please use a
"followup-to" header as I previously suggested, to avoid swamping this small
newsgroup with your traffic.  You -do- have control over the default reply
group settings, and I am sure most respondents are using the defaults.
